Linfield has a UST transfer on board. Bigger kid with a rocket arm.... just is learning the system.

I think SJU is in for a shock..... Linfield is 3-3 vs UMHB or something like that.... in the early days we had more disciplined players and schemes... then UMHB copied what we were doing and recruited better athletes... it's just the way it is....

I now feel much better about the Johnnies chances.

Would it be a fair statement to think that had the NCAA committee seeded differently, a better, more realistic bracket would have seen the Johnnies get the #1 East Seed, and put in HSU as an at-large in the East as well. ? Travel is travel. Its the friggin playoffs man. That would have been a great way to see what HSU really is and would have given the proper respect to the Johnnies.
Yes. Proper seating would be a welcome change.Perhaps in the future this will occur, but I won't be holding my breath waiting on the NCAA  ::)

From the Chairman of the national committee, sounds like they got called on the carpet by the NCAA for too many flights in recent years.  My cynical self says the funds required to pay for the legal fees related to the D1 hoops scandal had to come from somewhere, so D3 travel got axed/reduced.

Wondering if the chair put up a better stand for bracket integrity than his Lake Forest defense did in its loss to Mac. (435 yards, BTW)

Not sure why people feel the need to take shots at LFC because their coach is the chair. That seems kind of petty.
Meh, more of a jab at a coach than a poke at his team. It was basically his defense. Would have had like to have heard more from the podcast or elsewhere on how hard the pushback was, if any.

I don't think you really get to push back when the NCAA says, "we're not paying for this."

You guys don't know what you are up against. UMHB has mostly D1 type athletes... When we beat them we only had D2 Type guys but we were smarter...

Well, if we get out asses kicked then we get our asses kicked.  Doesn't mean we need to bend over and get ready for the ass kicking before the first whistle even blows.

Again, I don't think anyone really thinks UMHB isn't favored Saturday. But the idea the Johnnies are going to face something they can't even comprehend, as if they're the bad guys in Raiders of the Lost Ark facing god's wrath, seems a bit much. Last year, the Tommies beat the Johnnies 20-17. That same Tommies team gave UMHB everything they wanted in the playoffs, tied 10-10 in the fourth before losing on a punt return and pick 6 (in other words, last year's Johnnies, whose offense everyone complained about endlessly, especially in that Tommies game, scored more points than the Cru's offense vs. Tommies). Last year the MIAC's best had a great shot at victory against them. It's not far-fetched to think this year's best in the MIAC have great shot too.

Doing some digging this morning and came to realize that there is exactly one team each from the East Region, RPI, and from the North, Mount Union. The West Region has Bethel, St. John's and Whitewater, While the South Region has Johns Hopkins, Mary Hardin Baylor and Muhlenberg.

This year is somewhat unique because there are two conferences with two teams left standing in the final eight teams. But I sure wish the NCAA would do a better job of staggering the start times at this round of play. I would venture a guess that UMHB, UWW and UMU all have lights in their stadiums - not sure about Hopkins, to stagger the four games around on Friday nights and Saturdays.

What is the weather forecast for Whitewater this weekend?  I know SE MN is under a winter storm watch.
Everyday is payday in paradise.

retagent

Last time I looked, it was high near forty with 100% chance of precip (rain/snow).

That one is controlled by the All Mighty $$.  Can't have lowly D3 playing on a Saturday Afternoon on ESPN.  They have to broadcast the Regional Ping Pong Qualifying Rounds or something.

At least here in MN, high school football is done around Thanksgiving weekend in the Vikings Staium and it is called "Prep Bowl". Basketball is starting up, but outside venues are quiet this time of year on Friday nights.
