Just read Quick Hits (http://www.d3blogs.com/d3football/2018/11/30/quick-hits-we-predict-the-quarterfinals/) and it is all chalk with two exceptions, Frank is picking RPI and Ryan picks Bethel. Lots of compelling thoughts posted in the predictions.

However, (you knew this was coming), at Whitewater the weather is going to just suck. Upper 30's with 90 to 95 % chance of rain, and winds between 20 and 25 mph out of the East. The weather forecast is slightly worse than I last posted, in cooler temps and higher winds. I really think this improves Bethel's chances to just about even because it has a tendency to make both teams one dimensional. And as a result, I really think Bethel's run game is a bit better/more diverse than what I have seen of the Warhawks this year.

The wild card is hanging on to the handle, as cold hands make for more fumbles.

I like the Royals chances in these conditions. Go Bethel!

And go Johnnies!

JOHNNIE MAGIC!!!

So cool.

Dusty, what other play does this remind you of?

TDT running naked across the Whitworth field and not stopping until he hit Chilli's for a drink before flying home with Ron T........

We had a saying back then, "we either leave at 5am or we get home at 5am". Sometimes both.

Weather for Bethel/UWW game quite similar to that of SJU/NCC tilt last year, except it's a bit windier. Not a great day for football.

Go Johnnies!  I hope you guys bring the Jays great mojo!

Cool beans.

That play (and the Elliott non-TD TD catch) were right in front of me. The lads were playing football on the elevated flat area behind that endzone. Hope the future Staggs hosts studied what Salem did to make it a special place.

Well, I had an evening to myself as everyone was out at parties or movies so I watched a UHMB first half from this year against Southwestern which I found on YouTube. I will presumptuously describe UHMB's offense as big and athletic on the line, fast in the skill positions (and special teams), and they run simple schemes.  There's not a lot of complexity to the offense. They just ran simple plays and punished the opposition. Ground them into submission.

The defense was the same. Big line. Not a particularly fast pass rush but a very solid run defense. D-backs were very athletic.  They didn't stunt but once that I can recall and only showed blitz a couple times and then pulled back.  Basically they were too big to push around and just waited for the other team to make a mistake and then jump with incredible speed.  The offense against them was also very basic. QB runs were effective. No passing game, no pocket capabilities so the couple sacks were more charity than line pressure.

If the Johnnie timing is on I rate them a very good chance. 42-31.

EDIT: The couple int's were charity as well. Poorly thrown balls.  There was one long pass over the middle that was nice. Hit a wide open player crossing.  I was convinced watching that game that UHMB's pass defense is rated so highly because they defend average passing games with really good athletes. I'm not certain their pass defense will prove as effective against more complex and cerebral schemes. At least I hope not.

I applaud the detective ability. SW isn't a pass heavy team. That isn't their MO. They don't have the makeup to throw the ball. I think better film to look at in analyzing our passing D would be HSU x2, TLU, ETBU and Belhaven. I don't deny The Johnnies have a much more complex system than we have seen, but is it on par with Mount Union, Brockport, and Linfield?
Watch out for the wreckingCRU defense!!

Hearing from very reliable sources (wink Veek wink) that there is an arts and crafts festival in downtown Belton today wreaking havoc on getting to Scores for the pregame festivities.

I'm still in Austin at a Circle K as Brice made the rookie mistake of forgetting his sunglasses.

Have a safe trip and see you at the game.

Brockport?!?

LOL

Good luck today Johnnies.  As has been mentioned, the complexity of the offense and Erdmann don't have equals in the ASC... I'm hopeful the line will block well and keep Erdmann clean.  Should be a helluva game.

How about Muhlenberg scoring first to go up 7-0? Unexpected!

I see on the UMHB website that there is an app to watch the game on Amazon Fire along with Ruku, Apple TV & android TV. I'm going to try the Amazon Fire option.
