Quote from: OzJohnnie on December 02, 2018, 03:39:27 PMI've never come across a UMU supporter on our boards big noting after the loss, much less big noting against the Johnnies when they didn't even play them.  And don't give me the "but retagent" excuse.  His team just loss.  Yours won.  And yet you still have the small man syndrome.

Pot...meet kettle

Have you deleted those embarrassing non sequitur posts of yours yet?  Or just hoping no one remembers them?

Hey look, Oz is using words/terms incorrectly again. First, look up non sequitur. Next, quote any argument or post I made that is, in fact, a non sequitur. You won't. Just like you won't respond to bleedpurple or 02 Warhawk for (correctly) calling you out. Instead we'll get the same tired response from you and your amigos.

You guys can get back to the SJU/UMU circle jerk now

OzJohnnie

So the answer is you hope everyone forgets?  All right, then.  Enjoy your off season.

Aussie slang (apparently, I didn't realise until you questioned it) for talking yourself up.

OK, thanks. I apologize for my lack of sensitivity. I honestly thought Ret welcomed conversing on the topic. I understand, too soon.

I took no offense bleed. It may be just "too soon" over here. And, after reading my post about the snark, just so you don't take it the wrong way, I was thinking of the back and forth that took place years ago when UWW was just coning into what they are now. It was a two way street. I think now just about everyone knows what goes on here and is OK with it.

The Tommies must have been waiting for the Johnnie run to end before making the official announcement.

Glad to see my source was right on the money. I wouldn't want to lose credibility with my fellow posters. I am  surprised it was announced this soon. I was told after the first of the year.

QuoteEnjoy your off season.

He probably will, OZ, he's got another very good basketball team.

Epitome of class. Probably the classiest institution in the MIAC, nay, the NATION! Class, class, class. To be that respectful of a rival. Wow. So classy. Even took some of the sting out of the loss by changing the narrative. Hey, tough way to end it, but, LOOK! Big fancy stadium game to look forward to.

I'm surprised our coaches don't wear tuxedos TBH.

Congrats to SJU and Bethel on excellent seasons. A gut-wrenching loss for the Johnnies, as they did enough good things to win that game. A few too many errors against a very good team ended up being the difference.

Josh Parks from UST looks like a D1 type athlete when you see him play, and I had the same impression of the UMBH wide receivers and secondary. Very impressive.

I wasn't at the stadium, but from the internet viewing perspective it looked to be for the most part a hard fought, clean game from two well coached teams?

I'm a little torn on the next couple of weeks as it relates to UMHB. I'd like to see them do well, but if that is the case, there will forever be the gnawing thought of what might have been.

Last thought - (I'm assuming Bethel/UWW was a very physical game as I didn't see the game?) - I'm now firmly in the camp that the NCAA D3 football bracket and it's unbalanced nature is affecting outcomes. Whoever advances from UWW/UMBH will have likely played in two dog-fights against Top 5 type competition. They then will get to turn around on a short week (Friday night final), and have to play another great team to win it all. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, UMU is slaughtering the lambs. From a physical attrition standpoint, that is a huge disadvantage.

Bummed that Bethel couldn't get off to a better start, or seem to get all that much going on offense.  I had hoped that if BU couldn't advance, which I considered less likely, that SJU would still be available for MIAC bandwagon jumping, but oh well.

Have to wonder what next year will look like for the MIAC?  Obviously SJU will be top shelf again as long as Erdmann is slinging it, but I don't know enough about what they lose?  Brinker will leave a big hole, regardless of who steps in...what else isn't coming back for SJU?  Are we 1000% sure that Erdmann has another year of eligibility?   ;)

I'm guessing that BU will take a step back on defense, with Kilgore, Anderson, Ragsdale, and Brown all finishing up their runs this season, but the offense brings back several lineman, QB, RB, most, if not all of the receiving corps, so they should take a step forward....

UST will be breaking in a new QB, and seems to always bring in plenty of talent.

Will Concordia recover from their down year, or are they on a downswing longer than a season?

St. Olaf?  Gustavus?  Old Auggies?

Only counter point I can make is that it can show weak points along the way that help you get better but I have long said I hope one day that UMHB can be cursed with the tough path that Mount Union seems to get.

One of our coaches actually put out a tweet that highlighted the tough path that we have fought through. Using final polls as the guide we played 4 Top 10 (7,8,4,2) games in the playoffs in the 2016, 4 in 2017 (6,4,5,1) and so far this year we have faced #7, #3, have #5 this week and then potentially #1 the next.

Obviously this is heavily influenced by the geographic challenges that are legitimate but it does make you long for a little more balance.

SJU graduates a lot, pretty much all of their offensive fire power except Erdmann. They lose 5 starters as far as I can count off the top of my head on defense. Both the punter & place kicker graduate as well. I'm not sure if there will be enough players remaining to field a team  ;)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Counting on more solid recruiting so SJU can reload. A bit scared to add up the receiving yards Saturday by seniors .... 385?

Johnnies lose quite a bit, but they do have some/a few weapons returning.  Gillach and both TE's leave, plus Essler, 4 of their top 5 receivers, but Eckhoff, Van Erp and Blake Patrick are back which is over 1000 yds and 9 TD's.  3 RB's who started are back - Barber, Udoibok and Nick Jensen (FB), along with Trost who showed good in his limited chances (had a 100 yd rushing game if I'm not mistaken).  There's some hope.

On D, all 4 starting LB's back I think, 2 starting DB's.  Brinker's loss will hurt, but FR Wozniak showed good backing him up.  Borgeson up front is back.

So, the cupboard isn't bare.

We can make the blanket statement that the toughest football in D-3 now is from the Central Time Zone westward.

Barber will be back???  He's gotta be damn near 30!  ;D

As mentioned, Brinker will be missed, but also Kalina.  I was really impressed with his play this year.  Also, Max Jackson will be gone--big loss.  Arrgh.  I don't know if the Johnnies will win a game next year.

To quote John, though, "Every year, we replace irreplaceable guys."
