I'm not fretting over next year's offense. I think Erdmann's the type of QB and in this system where we're going to be able to sort of plug guys in and still be really good. He's at that level. Not that we aren't losing a ton of receiving talent. We are. But I'd rather have this QB coming back with unproven receivers than this year's receivers coming back with unproven QB. In other words, while you guys worry about 2019, I'm fretting about SJU QB situation of 2020.
I'm also wondering about 2020 and the QB spot. I didn't get a chance to see any JV games this year so I have no idea who may be in the wings.
I'm wondering where we get 2 versatile TEs?
Trost can be plugged into the Essler RB spot. He can catch the ball out of the backfield or split out wide as the AirJohnnie scheme calls for.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I've heard good things about the Owatonna kid at QB (Havelka?).  Fact of the matter is pretty much anyone is gonna be a letdown after the Erdmann era.

A tradition unrivaled...

Course we said the same thing on these boards in 2002 about replacing you on the line and we got Dumo, so maybe we'll be all right.

Also just pictured the Owatonna running back who rushed for like 8,000 yards this year leaving the Gophers and transferring to the Tommies and shuddered.

But we still have UST3, behind bethel and sju-so not all bad.

They then will get to turn around on a short week (Friday night final), and have to play another great team to win it all. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, UMU is slaughtering the lambs. From a physical attrition standpoint, that is a huge disadvantage.

No disputing the above.

Also no disputing:

   1)  Geography + $$$ triumphs all in D3 football, as we know.  Still, the top seed is supposed to have the easiest route.

   2)  Re attrition:  Mount Union has several very concerning injuries, only three of which I will mention here.

   3)  Re attrition:  One of two Mount Union stud receivers has one good hamstring.

   4)  Re attrition:  Mount Union's stud quarterback has one good ankle.  Is the same true of WWW and UMHB?

   5)  Re attrition:  Mount Union's #1 quarterback has one good ankle.  (See above.)  Mount Union's #2, #3 and #4 quarterbacks all transferred.  Mount Union's quarterback #5A is inexperienced,
can't pass and, oh by the way, is injured; Mount Union's quarterback #5B is inexperienced, and, well, #5B.  (I.E.  He tries hard.)

   6)  Mount Union's backup quarterback, based on last week's game, is its starting tailback.  (As in hike the ball to him and we'll run left, right or center.)  I'm not entirely sure how that would
play against WWW or UMHB, assuming Mount makes it that far.  (I'm thinking not so well.)

So, for the moment, spare me the crocodile tears.  (Now if the winner of WWW/UMHB enters the Stagg Bowl with a busted-up quarterback, bring 'em on.)

A big +K for that one. Probably won't shut up the whiners, but I love your analysis! Go Raiders!

Your point no. 1 is major. Number 1 seed SHOULD have an easier path. Happens in the other sports!
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

So the question is, do you recruit players for the scheme or adjust the scheme to fit the players on the team?

Terry Horan would like to ring in with a slightly different answer on that one!

It doesn't matter if you have a future NFL wide receiver on the roster at the same time as you have a QB who will be in camp with an NFL team, you run the gul-durn triple option, and then you run it again, and again....

UMHB's QB has been playing with a shoulder injury since the last game of the regular season and "baby sprained" his ankle vs SJU. One of their deep threats/returners has a cast on his right hand for a broken knuckle, #2 QB had season ending surgery on his foot, #3 QB played WR for 3 years before becoming a backup QB this season #4 QB is a freshman that saw no varsity time until the last game of the season when #2 was out.
My wife and I are Alumni of both UMHB and HSU.  You think you are confused, my kids don't know which Purple and Gold team to pull for.

Glad you can find some comfort in your obsession with us.

Also, see a therapist. Coping mechanisms like this are good in that they help us survive but at some point it's time to emotionally mature beyond an 8th grade level.
I only say this out of genuine concern for your well-being.

sjujohnnie

Nice to see two Johnnies honored in the 3 spots on the All-West Region team! Erdmann was honored as offensive player of the year & Fasching as coach of the year! I hope Erdmann also receives the Gagliardi trophy!

I also heard Carriveau and Pietruszewski called a lot.
I think we get them back next year.  :)
