My word. UMHB has mismanaged the hell out of the last 4 minutes of this game

Yup.  MHB wins inspite of their coaching.   Not because of it.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Someone on the OAC board nailed it. Imagine if MHB had an actual coaching staff. They win with athletes, in spite of their coaches

jamtod

If they pull this out, does Coach Fred sail off into the sunset?

Wow - I'm not sure what to say about that - just wow. I was sure that UMHB was going to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.

UMHB loves to piss big games away with bad coaching and almost did it again.

What a luxury to have the athletes to get away w/ some of those 4th quarter decisions and still win a NC.

I recently met someone who is from near Belton. His kid actually played at SMU.

He said given UMHB's location, the amount of talent in the surrounding areas is insane, even by TX standards. Then you add in the facilities.

It's somewhat surprising these Stagg Bowl wins didn't start sooner, as the school was making deep playoff runs only a few years after it started the program.
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

Before the kick-off of the Stagg Bowl I want to go on record with my prediction. UMHB 27 UMU 13

Now, if this comes to pass, (which with my track record for picking winning teams seems a bit unlikely), I think the Johnnies could make an argument for being the #2 team in the country. The wider the spread if the Cru wins, the better the argument. If the Purple Raiders can pull off the minor upset, then that goes out the window.

After watching the Cru play both the Johnnies and the Warhawks back to back, it is my opinion that the Johnnies were the better team. Had they played this year I am almost certain that the Johnnies would have defeated the Warhawks - but we'll never know.

Pretty darn close with Part 1 of the prediction. Now we wait to see what the experts think.

Side note: Does this do anything for future seeding of the tournament by the NCAA? Nope...I didn't think so.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Also add in the attractive low cost tuition, as has been discussed at length on the SIAC board, and you have an outstanding combination of factors needed to have a championship caliber (potential dynasty) football program.

Thanx 105. Others have posted under the write up article on the front page that they suspect St. John's will come out #3, and I suspect that they will be correct. Mount Union stayed in the game until the last play, and in my opinion locked up #2.

I'm wondering where the pundits will end up putting Bethel. Here's my guess for the final top 10 teams:

1. UMHB
2. Mount Union
3. St. John's
4. Whitewater
5. Johns Hopkins
6. Bethel
7. North Central
8. Hardin Simmons
9. Whitworth
10. Muhlenberg

Edit: and the Tommies were at #16 before the tourney, and while they might have been able to beat some teams ranked higher, most voters see post season wins and rank higher accordingly. It is what it is.

Where's Brockport?

Also, A case could be made to rank Johns Hopkins above UWW, but UWW will probably come in at #4 due to their rep.

Frankly, I was not that impressed by Brockport this year. East coast voters may bolster their position into the top 10, but the ten teams I listed I think could beat Brockport.

Did anyone see a bit of a parallel between Blake Elliot and T J Oshie, oops, Josey, in the way they were used against UMU? Bringing him into the backfield to get him more involved in the offense seemed to coincide with UMHB taking over the game.

Sorry art, I was taking a jab at Brockport, not you. ;D
