Sad news from Johns Hopkins on the homepage. With the loss of their coach and Coach Drass from Wesley, the D3 coaching fraternity in Maryland/Delaware has taken two tremendous losses. 58 is far too young. RIP.

Used to hear from one monk that the Rule originally cited "one hemina of wine" a day.

And the beauty, that monk said, was that hemina was never precisely defined.  ;D

One of my campus jobs was hospitality and back in those days, the abbey brought in truckloads of grapes to make its own wine for sacraments, celebrations and everyday drinking. It was known as "Abbey Gas" and packed quite a punch.
To clarify things:
A hemina is half a sextary.  :o

Whew!  It's a cooker today.  108 degrees at 4:30pm.  We're waiting for a cool change to come through, a pressure cell changing the weather patterns from blowing hot air down from the red interior to blowing cool air up from the Antarctic.  It's expected to be 61 degrees at 9pm.  It's like someone turns on a giant air conditioner and cools the whole place down in two hours.

EDIT: The cool change came through harder and sooner than expected.  It's down to 62 degrees and it is only 6pm.  Glorious.

Today not much at all.  But, as you expect, they can whip up a bit.

Hey all, I hope you had a fantastic Holiday Season, like I did! I have been unplugged for while. I see I have missed some great banter. My deepest apologies. I know you have all missed my sharp wit and professional expertise. Ha!

I was absent for the whole Tommie demise conversation and I'm not sure if this has been mentioned (I didn't read every post since I had checked out) I apologize if it has, but I just got it from a pretty reliable source that Josh Parks will indeed return next fall for his senior season. Great news for Tommie Fans!

Oz:
Nobody has anything to post so:
My local adult beverage outlet has Yalumba Shiraz on sale for $9 and change per bottle.
FYI I did not purchase (or shoplift) any.   ;)

About the same price you'll pay for Yalumba here.  It's not bad.  Mrs Oz will buy a few bottles for cooking (adding to pasta sauce and such). The physics never seems to work out as there should be more sauce with the volume of wine at her disposal.  A not insignificant volume always seems to go missing. It must be highly evaporative.

Perhaps Mrs. Oz is disappearing a not insignificant amount during preparation.
