That road needs a do-over. If it's in front of your house, I smell an assessment coming.

Ugh.  I paid off a $5K assessment when we sold our last house in 2014.  Fast forward to 2019, and I'm now paying a $5K assessment on our 2017 street reconstruction project.  ::)

Anything that can top this?

Is that even a road?  You'd be better off with gravel.

We've got a road less than two blocks from my house that is worse than that.  I haven't subjected my car to it for at least 15 years, and it has reached the point that it is treacherous even on foot walking the dog.  The problem is that it forms the dividing line between the city and the township, and they've been fighting for decades over whose responsibility it is to fix.

And, yes, it would be much better to just rip out the pavement and use gravel.

Thankfully it's not my house.  I pulled it off twitter.  Faunch nailed the location: Highland Parkway just south of St. Kate's.

It's nice to see those hefty property taxes being put to good use in STP for important things like roads and schools.  ;D

Very very sad news. Michael Herzog was critically injured in an icehouse explosion. Sounds like he has burns over 90% of his body. Caringbridge link in the article.

Edit: Guess this was mentioned earlier. Regardless, Caringbridge link in the article.

Thanks for posting Bench, horrible news and prayers for the young man.  Thank you for the link to Caringbridge.

No problem, I agree. They do have an almost all blue that isn't so bad.  :)

I thought it was the gas tax(es) that paid for road maintenance.

What instrument do you play? I wish I had been into it when I was younger and would have learned to play some kind of instrument (fiddle, flute or even the bodhran). I've become a huge fan of Luke Kelly and the Dubliners. I also enjoy The Chieftains...
i play tenor banjo and Octave Mandolin.  I'm learning fiddle as it's SO MUCH lighter than my banjo.  I frequently play at the Friday early evening session at the Dubliner Pub, almost always make the Sunday sessions at Keegan's, and periodically make the Monday sessions at Merlin's Rest.  I was off of the instruments for a couple of decades as my kids were growing up but now that they're in college I'm getting back to playing again.  It's a lot of fun

Really sad news about Herzog. Thankful he wasn't killed, prayers going up as he starts the recovery process.

I'm a guitar player, but my grandfather had a 1920s Gretch tenor banjo that's been handed down to me. I'm thinking about going with Chicago tuning to keep things familiar. Have you ever tried this tuning?
