GAC (chair), CSB (vice), and CAR (at large) for the three-person MIAC exec committee which sets the agenda for the presidents committee.  GAC also is chair for the athletic reps committee.  STO chairs the AD committee.  GAC also chairs the football committee. The only position of note that UST has in any of that is treasurer.

Interesting. The control the the process is certainly not in UST's hands.

Mr.MIAC

How do we know that UST actually wants to stay in the MIAC? They've made major investments in athletic facilities, struck deals with WCCO and Allianz Field, dramatically expanded recruiting across most sports, and hired a D1 AD. They're also in the quiet phase of a giant fundraiser that likely includes money for athletics. Nothing opens those checkbooks like a perceived emergency...

If they want to leave then they only need write a letter giving one year’s notice.  In their letter they can ask for a vote (2/3’s majority) to be allowed to leave immediately.

Allianz Field will not be solution for D1 football or soccer. The Loons ownership paid for that facility so that they could have their own field. I doubt they want a college football team tearing up the pitch 4 or 5 Saturdays each fall. Maybe U$T could pay them enough $$$ to make it happen but I doubt it.

Leaving hasn't been the plan in the past and the costs haven't made sense. It's possible that trajectory has changed with new AD and new President since the last major investigation. I'm certain it's being considered. I'm also certain that UST wants to have that decision in its own control and not be forced out.

It's plenty big enough for FCS football, and I'm also certain that the folks that paid $250 million for it would like to have someone else kick in for the bill. That said, any "deal" with Loons ownership that I'm aware of is limited to the one game against the Johnnies.

This current run for the Bulldogs reminds me of the great run made by North Dakota a few years back. As luck would have it, this time around, my alma mater UMD is dominating and not the Fighting Sioux.

UMass is supposed to have the best player in college hockey named Cale Makar. My money is on Denver U to advance but should be interesting watching this Makar kid who is a Colorado Avalanche draft choice.

Edit: Holy crap UMass looks good.

Incredible day for SJU Football and whole Athletic Department.....over 1,000 donors have made gifts during the one day Johnnie Challenge raising nearly $250,000.....of that $62,000 was earmarked for football.  Congratulations to the coaches and players that crafted such a strong message and proud of my fellow alums that chose to invest in SJU Football.

Sections D and E made for interesting reading on the train ride into work.

Lifted from Section E:

"Notice of the Presidents' Council intent to invoke any disciplinary action must be made in writing and delivered to the affected member and all other voting members at least thirty (30) days prior to the date that the action is proposed to be taken."

"Any decision to suspend or terminate membership must be made by at least a three-fourths affirmative vote of the entire Presidents' Council. The member institution in question shall not be allowed to vote, and the required three-fourths majority shall be determined based upon the remaining voting members (currently 9 members based on 12 members eligible to vote)."

"The expulsion shall take place at the end of the then-current academic year."

So, if #TomToss is for real: 1) then the April 18, 2019 meeting will be the official notification date to fulfill the requirements of the existing by-laws; 2) The Tommies don't get a vote and it has to beat least 9 vs. 3 to carry; 3) it would become effective at the end of the current school year.

Point #1 seems iffy to me, but it seems the general public is being kept at arm's length concerning the conduct which may have gotten St. Thomas into this bind. We may or may not ever know what the cause was if the meeting is closed.

Point #2 also seems iffy to me, but more likely, if the charges are legit. As has been suspected, Concordia, Bethel, St. John's and St. Benedict would be the 4 nay-sayers, effectively killing the proposal. This is where politicking comes in and anything could happen.

Point #3, if the resolution passes, it means there will be a lot of scrambling for schedules next season/year if the Tommies cannot compete in the MIAC.

Thanx for sharing Oz!
