Regarding Reusse. I am an avid Gopher football follower and the majority of us have an extreme dislike for his writing and his radio call in segments......he rips the Gophers every single chance he gets. Many Gopher fans will not click on his Twitter feed or articles from the Strib because he is just shamelessly generating clicks and this MIAC debacle is no different for him. He is kind to the MIAC teams overall and that softens my dislike for him but he is a die hard Gopher hater. He claims he was a big time fan of Big Ten football in the 60's but something soured him, probably the Gophers losing! I think it has to do with his desire to come up with click bait. He is kind of an A-hole and obviously you guys are able to see this bad writing, nice job.

I wouldn't qualify it with "kind of". Reusse is a straight up A-hole troll, no qualifications needed, regarding the gophers.

Thank you for making important points about Reusse. As a diehard Gopher football fan I religiously avoid anything he has to say about the Gophers, but I know how well connected he is with the MIAC so it makes me respect what he has to say about the MIAC. Sometimes it feels like some of that troll, stir-the-pot Reusse bleeds into his MIAC writing however valid it may be. Given all of my feelings about his writing I definitely struggle with how to interpret his columns on this subject.

Too much drama this off season.  It's like watching Melrose Place.

I see that Warroad's Tim Oshie got cheap shotted into the boards and broke his collarbone.  Gotta cheat to keep the northern Minnesota boys down.

Don't get retagent started, he's been pretty quiet thus far in the playoffs.

Speaking of which, it's not the same without our resident NHL expert bennie weighing in on things.  ???

And speaking of Reusse, I attended a Twins day game v. Yankees at the MetroDome one time and the game went extra innings. After the 11th I had to leave for a 7pm meeting in my town over an hour away. As I walked directly in front of the press box, leaving my seats I had paid for, he scowled looking down at me from the comfy seat he didn't pay for as if to say I was a fair weather fan and how dare I leave now.

He's a cretin and a creep.

Is your 7pm meeting like mine?

"If you're not home by seven for dinner then don't bother coming home."

(Incidentally, the wrong statement to make in reply is, "I didn't realise I had a choice.")

Yeah, it does feel like Reusse is taking his troll act to the side of UST here and against the three high-brow liberal arts schools (and others). Being objective doesn't sell clicks/papers as much as a staked-out opinion though, so that's understandable. Objectively, though, there are two sides of the coin here. For example, the competitive side of me is surprised UST didn't move up 5-10 years ago to face better competition and be with similar sized institutions.

Charley Walters believes the Cobber president William Craft is the swing vote in this whole deal. If Craft believes that a vote to stay would cause the conference to break up, it could be a tough decision. Their travel distance to other MIAC schools gives them some unique considerations that other MIAC schools don't have.

Per the Fargo Forum, Craft has given no communication as to his thoughts.

I'm not surprised; I suspect they've been getting a little more pushback from the Canes than either the team or the fans expected. Last night's game should have him breathing a bit easier, though.

Maybe they saw how an Avalanche can put out the Flames!  :D

I find it very bizarre nobody from the Coalition of Losers is trying to step-up and steer the narrative in a more favorable direction. You have to be pretty incompetent to inadvertently drum up sympathy for the Evil Empire and make us look like the good guys. The great irony: this was about the bad press these institutions were getting from lopsided football scores. Now they're getting bad press from being inexplicably shrouded in secrecy, acting like the kid who takes the ball and goes home, and to top it off, you see 97-0 in every article.

If Reusse, McFeely, Kolpack or whoever is writing about this has it completely wrong, then step up to the podium and explain yourself. This is getting dumber by the minute.

If  I am someone like Killian, I would not be happy either. My football program has become the laughing stock across media channels. That has to hurt recruiting. March - May is the big decision making window for a lot of DIII kids too. This is all coming on the heals of St Olaf building a little momentum in football as well. The St Olaf President is handling this about as well as his last two PR disaster's: the fake racism incident and the Baseball team hazing.

Happy Easter y'all!

I have to say I'm fully on board the "Reusse is a total hack" train. But I have been appreciative of the attention he's given to the MIAC and UST in particular.
This article was particularly disjointed and weird.

I have to imagine there is a lot of disunity and frustration in various MIAC institutions, between Coaches, ADs, and Presidents which have very different visions. Won't be surprised to see a number of folks moving on to different jobs. I could see Killian wanting to put together a few years of progress and then jump to a new opportunity (although the same might have been said about Caruso at one point so who knows).
