Let's be honest. Were you all really expecting tact and proper grammar? He's a Johnnie living in Australia...

On a different topic, do you all experience an uptick in juvenile violent crime in your cities during the spring months? The number of shootings, muggings, and incidents of thuggery rise dramatically here in April and May. Yesterday evening an acquaintance was severely beaten by five teens who seemed to be doing it for sport. The police and some in the community say this sort of thing is just part of life in urban areas. I've lived in plenty of large cities where this isn't common and/or taken lightly. Thoughts?

My thoughts? Get the heck out of that city...unless you have a streak of Clint Eastwood (a`la Gran Torino) in you.

I've lived in two "urban areas" over the course of my life, Minneapolis/St. Paul and DC, and I've never once felt like that was part of the accepted social norm. Sure, there are parts of town you should probably avoid if you can help it, especially after dark, but I never was made to feel that the occasional beating by roving bands of teenagers was part of "livin' in the big city."

That being said, I'm moving back to North Dakota in two weeks and can't wait. But that has more to do with just the general grind of day-to-day urban living and being closer to family than anything.

That might be in the cards. We live in a rowhouse downtown DC with lots of great restaurants and entertainment at our doorstep. Hermes, Louis Vuitton, et al. (typical Tommie hangouts ;)) recently set up shop nearby, and next week Apple is opening its national flagship store a couple blocks away. In other words, it's a good time to be selling property in our neighborhood. Meanwhile, the crime, corruption, and craziness in this city is becoming unpalatable, especially when we're trying to raise a toddler. Cashing out and moving to the Northern Virginia suburbs is looking pretty attractive.

Lots of Nazi’s in North Dakota. Be careful.

And I guess this movie is no longer funny and is now beyond the pale. Shame. I deny ever having watched it, or if having watched it ever laughing. To the best of my recollection.

Or this movie.  It's gonna be damn tough making any hockey commentary around here from now on.

I've managed to get some clandestine footage (sources will be protected to my grave) of the UST planning meeting just before the big MIAC pow-wow.  This is definitely not funny and absolutely beyond the pale.

That is the greatest tragedy of the Internet.  There is the saying that "The Internet is Forever."  But it's not.  The best Downfall parody ever made has been lost in the ether.  Not since the secret to Roman cement was forgotten has civilisation suffered such a tragic loss of knowledge.

Look at how the Johnnie in Australia is trying to normalize his classless Nazi humor. Typical...
