Well, there's nothing much more Australian than this.  Kangaroos invading the pitch during a suburban footy match.  Video at the link.

Looks like the best fit for the Tommies is to head East across the river, as I read between the lines.

The speculation is if they go up a division, it would take two years to transition into D2. Jumping to the Wiscy side of the river could be done in a year - maybe between years.

I wonder what the Warhawks think of this?

That would put the WIAC in a position where they would not have to find 3 non-cons in football. But, unless the MIAC picked up another team, it would put them in the position that the WIAC is in now.

I thought that the idea was that if UST left, Mac would return?

That is awesome! First home game and all but why would they stop showing up?!

Why focus upon UWW? The Warhawks aren't the kingpins of the WIAC in the way that the Tommies rule the MIAC. For the past two school years it has been UW-LaCrosse that has won the combined all-sports award in the WIAC, garnering higher finishes in both school years than the other seven WIAC schools on both the men's side and on the women's side. In fact, the Eagles have won it three out of the last four school years.

This year UWL won eight different WIAC championships. UW-Whitewater won five, and UW-Eau Claire won four.

Since the league started tracking the all-sports award in 1997-98, these are the number of awards won:

UW-LaCrosse  8
UW-Whitewater  7
UW-Stevens Point  4
UW-Oshkosh  3

Well, maybe because La Crosse has never won football, basketball, and baseball the same academic year and UWW did?

That was five years ago.

Also, if we're talking about national championships being the measuring stick, the two WIAC schools that rank in the top ten on the all-time Walnut & Bronze leaderboard are:

2. UW-LaCrosse (43)
7. UW-Oshkosh (31)

UWW is a distant third among WIAC members with 13, one ahead of UWSP.

I don't know if it is a realistic option, but I'd welcome St. Thomas to the WIAC. From a football standpoint it would help scheduling a lot. It would help on the hockey front too. I wish Oshkosh would add hockey, but that's not going to happen.

It would definitely help with baseball as well.

Add UST and one more and you have the AQ status for hockey. Stevens Point looked dominant this year wow.

Curious if the WIAC has ever had two at-large bids in the NCAAs for football (3 total)? Adding St. Thomas would make the top of the WIAC pretty crowded with Whitewater, Oshkosh and whoever else pops up in a given year. Adding UST to the mix would be quite the battle.

On second thought, the MIAC has had that same battle every year with UST, SJU, Bethel plus Concordia; and I don't think the MIAC has ever had multiple at-large bids.

A few years ago, I think UWW, UWO, and UWP were all in.

In 2016, Oshkosh, Whitewater, and Platteville all made the postseason. UWP lost to St. John's in the first round. UWW lost to John Carroll in the quarters, and UWO lost in the Stagg. They all finished in the Top 15 in the D3 poll that year.
