The Bethel administration spoke up and did interviews. Kudos to them! There isn't a broad sweeping moratorium on this. St Olaf, Carleton, Auggie Tech, Hamline, and Gustavus realize they have no leg to stand on and any further comments would drive them even deeper into the public opinion hole.

Pribbenow came off as a spineless sheep in one email to a donor. He angered the donor so much that the donor leaked it to the press. He has coaches from his school pounding on his door. Amplify that across all the C.O.L above and you have an even bigger story. It's self preservation now, and these Presidents are looking out for their own the jobs on the line

Man you Tommies are sore losers.  I thought you were sore winners but I had no idea until you lost.  Catching up on these last few pages has been entertaining.  It's a shame you can only be kicked out once.

Gregory:

Thanks for your further comments/your opinion regarding the situation.  You further clarified/elaborated more on your underlying position, which is what I thought you would have done from the beginning, and from what you have shared, I think we are essentially on the same page in regards to some of those aspects.

That said, I never said you had a lack of ethics- quite the contrary if you go back and read my posts. I simply pushed since I was surprised you didn't come out in the first place in saying/clarifying what you just posted. If you think I was harsh in pointing out my opinion, I don't 't really care either- I said what I believed about the situation. You, I and everyone here essentially "rap people's(each other's) knuckles" all the time in debating the various issues and stating our deep rooted opinions/beliefs,.  Yes, sometimes, we do it more diplomatically, perhaps sometimes not. As you and I and others have said, everyone is entitled to their opinions. You always seem to share yours in detail and in that vein, I was surprised you didn't elaborate more.  You can say you aren't going to pass judgement on them, and that is fine, but you still expressed your opinion as to it not being a good look to the public community (not just the media) , which was also my point.

We could debate this more, however, that would be pointless. I think we've each clarified our opinions and we'll leave it at that.

Edited to correct some spelling/text typos.😀

Hey Pat:
In your article regarding the announcement about this involuntary departure of UST, you mentioned this has somewhat not occurred since 1959-60 when Wheaton left. Might not this also be compared to our MIAA back in 1960 when Hillsdale left the conference rather than be thrown out by the presidents over the dispute about post-season bowl games?  Hillsdale, then under the late legendary coach Muddy Waters (later first HC coach of DII Saginaw Valley State and later Michigan State University HC in the early 1980s) had been going to some post-season bowl games, including the Mineral Water Bowl and had played schools such as Iowa State back then.  Of course, this is not the exact same situation as St. Thomas, although there is a somewhat slightly similar underlying theme.  Just curious as to your thoughts. :)

It does sound familiar -- but as a D3 guy, Hillsdale who? :)

Good one, Pat!☺Thanks for the reply!

Welcome back. I hope your sabbatical healed whatever issues you had since you last left.

I thought I had heard it all, until your conspiratorial drivel that UST was dictating an international scale PR campaign through the Washington Post, ESPN, Guardian, Fox News, etc. That was an incredibly creative imagination.

Oz thinks this is all the Tommies' fault. Maybe if we were a bit less good looking, flirtatious, and provocatively dressed this never would have happened.

Ha!  Classic.  Yes, the Tommie chickens coming home to roost is no different than rape.  When you feel so sorry for yourself you don't need anyone else's sympathy, that's for sure.

The Aristocratic Tommies and their well-heeled supporters are looking for a new conference to govern. They are well dressed, dashing and debonair. References available upon request.

What do we need to do to piss you off again so you will go away for another week or so? It's been a relatively pleasant week or so with you in hiding, particularly given the circumstances.

You enjoyed your self-pity filled echo chamber did you?  I can imagine.

Don't worry, you won't be forced to look at the role UST played in this mess.  STO may have led the charge but UST provided all the ammunition.  Enjoy the summer break.

Okay, DuffMan and other SJU  posters:
I hate to be a pest, so please forgive me. However, I am going ask this one more time. Has anyone seen or heard from my friend Johnnie Red? You had mentioned you saw him once or twice at a SJU football game last fall. Yet, since his retirement as a Federal Judge in the Twin Vitu s area, I have been totally unsuccessful in attempting to contact him multiple times since last summer. His former Federal/county court people won't provide me with any forwarding contact info, for obvious/ understandable reasons. I have attempted to call him many times per his previous phone numbers, however, those must have changed as there is no messaging available. I even sent a card, however, never heard back. I am baffled. Any update or info would be appreciated, if you know.  If any of you see him at one of the games this fall, please tell him I have been trying to contact him to say hello. Thanks. I am baffled.

QuoteRachel Garcia, the UCLA starter who beat the Gophers 7-2 in the Women's College World Series opener on Thursday, threw fastballs in the 69- to 70-mph range.

In each ascending level of competition in college softball, pitchers' velocity increases on average about three miles per hour. Most pitchers' fastballs in the softball World Series are in the 69- to 70-mph range.

The actual release point of the softball is closer to 40' (for round numbers) to home plate.

70 MPH traversing 40 feet  in roughly the same as a baseball thrown from 60 feet (6 inches) at 105 MPH.
