Don't understand paying to tailgate. Help me out here...

There is a designated parking lot for tailgating (quite nice, actually), and it attracts a lot of people, requiring extra security staff, porta-potties, etc.  For big games, people will start parking there days ahead of time.  $JU decided to offset the cost and reduce the traffic by offering reserved parking in that lot.  And now you know the rest of the story.

Here's a glimpse:

Thanks for the info. I forgot that you guys get giant size crowds at your games. We get a whole lot less. Your explanation makes sense, now that I know the rest of the story (with a thank you to Paul Harvey). As you may know, our Mount fans tailgate area is right next to the stadium. Not suppose to begin until 3 hours before the game. However, some begin around 8 o'clock. We do get a lot of people, BBQs, loud music etc. It's all we know so we think it's great. Yours sounds really fantastic. Would love to take part in yours, especially being a huge St. John's fan. However; Collegeville is a long way from Alliance. I'll be there in spirit.
Again, thanks for the info and picture. Would love for our teams to meet again (no repeat of 2003). How about meeting in The Stagg Bowl? There's a nice thought!
Go Johnnies! Go Raiders! Good luck on the season to both of our teams.  8-)  ;D

Guess you're still "SJU" not that other stuff! However, "U$T" shall remain.  :D
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Mr.MIAC

Hey Johnnies, how did your Bennies show at the great Minnesota get-together? Take home any blue ribbons this year?

retagent

I hadn't thought about it before, but the tailgating in the designated lot is quite nice. The semi seclusion makes it more private, yet accessible I've gone to a number of UWW games, and they have tailgating in the lot where most people walk through to get into the stadium. While not all that bad, and it does smell good, I wonder what the tailgaters think about all the pedestrian traffic through their festivities.

Buehler, Buehler, anyone?

It has been a few years since I've been able to get there. Is it still the Science lot?  ???

Nope: It's down by the Gagliardi Dome, Soccer,Baseball & Tennis venues. There are 149 numbered parking spots & you get your spot for the season for $100.00
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

DuffMan

I talked with a certain alumni relations guru yesterday who said they've sold 80-90 of the spots already.  Also, if anyone is interested in a spot and hasn't been contacted, shoot me a PM and I can put you in contact with someone.  They don't want to miss anyone who is interested.

MUC, You're killin' me man. I go away for a cup of coffee and you crawl in bed with SJ2. What happened to the neutral guy I used to know and love? Anyway, soon you guys will be able to use USTD again, as long as you add a "1" after it. USTD1 because all things indicate over at Summit and Cretin Ave. Division I is a forgone conclusion. Great to be back! Hi Duff, Oz and the rest!

The facilities/land situation could prove to be a challenge. Do you have any inside info on that?

Redtooth

The number of people visible in this pic from Duffman exceeds the cumulative season attendance (for the games) at more than half of the teams in the MIAC.....great problem to have for SJU—fans that actually attend games.

Holy crap!  MiacMan makes a triumphant return.

UST has hired an Army of Associate and Assistant A.D.s, Including, two more former Penn State "big wheels" Duties include Academic and Career Counseling, Health and Wellness Nutrition Specialist and Facilities and Events Coordinator. This doesn't sound like a D3 schools athletic dept. or D2 for all that matters.

That was last July. Just got around to adding him to my name. Maybe he'll make it out to a game.

Speaking of which - anyone know how Allianz would handle a 1 year old lap child for ticketing purposes? I'm lobbying for a babysitter but mrs_jamtod wants to know if this is an option.
