Took in the Bethel v. Mac scrimmage today. Pretty standard stuff. Mac 1st O struggled to move the ball at all on Bethel's 1st & 2nd string D. No scores and maybe only 2 or 3 first downs??

Bethel scored 4 times, 2 with 1v1, and 1 with Bethel 2's v. Mac 1's. One with 2v2. No QB runs allowed so Roste was limited to passing plays. Also no Gibas and several starting WR's sat out as well. Looked like just to get reps for newer guys.

That's what happens when you abandon us to the mean mean Johnnies for the offseason, MM.

You're right, my bad. I see you added a child, Congrats!

That was last July. Just got around to adding him to my name. Maybe he'll make it out to a game.

Speaking of which - anyone know how Allianz would handle a 1 year old lap child for ticketing purposes? I'm lobbying for a babysitter but mrs_jamtod wants to know if this is an option.
MNUFC allows anyone under 3 in without a ticket fwiw....who knows if the stadium will follow that policy for this game though

I could never forget you! Not after all the posts we've had together, all the laughs, all the good times. But, I was not the one who was gone for awhile. I hung around, dodging the barbs, fighting for the cause, defending the honor of "the" team. It is I who has remained true to the spirit of the board.
Turn my back on you? Never! Never, as long as the sounds of football float through the autumn air. Never, as long as children pick their teams and throw a football on the street. Never, as long as multitudes fill a stadium with the ensuing roar of thousands of fans.
After all that, it's time for a Bud Light or ten. I made myself, and probably everyone who read this, nauseus. In conclusion, GO EVERYBODY!  8-)  ::)  ;D

A couple of interesting new coaches on the UST coaching staff.
RB coach Jordan Roberts is back in St Paul from his internship with the Seahawks
CB Coach Mark Dowdle is new to the staff and
I think we previously mentioned that Austin Jochum is now the strength and conditioning coach.

There may be a couple of other new faces on the staff, but those are the recent UST players.

Speaking of J-Rob, a couple of former players Andrew Inserra and Declan Brown have a podcast called The Backpocket. They recently had Jordan on for an hour+ interview where he talked about his career, experience in Seattle, time in seminary, and now being back on the UST coaching staff. An interesting guy with a great story.

I talked with a certain alumni relations guru yesterday who said they've sold 80-90 of the spots already.  Also, if anyone is interested in a spot and hasn't been contacted, shoot me a PM and I can put you in contact with someone.  They don't want to miss anyone who is interested.

No big deal, we park elsewhere on game day for easy entrance and exit, but we have season tickets and don't remember getting notified about the tailgate lot reservations.  But how did they decide who to offer them to?  I would have thought all season ticket holders would have gotten an e-mail?  Did I just not read mine (quite possible)?

Bud Light? What, am I in the Twilight Zone? I must have been comatose for longer than I thought. What happened to Milwaukee's Best Light? I do like the "Go Everybody" though! Good to be back for another season!

Whew, Thank God. I thought my world had crumbled before my eyes! I am a believer in thought there are only two kinds of beer: Cold and Free and I'll take either one, meaning I'll drink a warm one if it's free, and I pay whatever I need to for a cold one.

MUC, You're killin' me man. I go away for a cup of coffee and you crawl in bed with SJ2. What happened to the neutral guy I used to know and love? Anyway, soon you guys will be able to use USTD again, as long as you add a "1" after it. USTD1 because all things indicate over at Summit and Cretin Ave. Division I is a forgone conclusion. Great to be back! Hi Duff, Oz and the rest!
The facilities/land situation could prove to be a challenge. Do you have any inside info on that?
my prediction is that U$T helps STA upgrade their hockey arena and either plays football at Allianz Field or partners with the Vikings to upgrade their TCO field. That said off campus facilities will all but kill student attendance...but U$T should be used to low attendance numbers from the student body..

I've seen it first hand at UND. Going D1 typically means a few sports will get chopped. I don't see that it's necessary to play games at Allianz or TCO for longer than what it would take to upgrade their own facility (for football at least). Going D1 doesn't automatically mean some colossal jump in attendance. Most FCS schools aren't even bringing in anywhere close to 10k a game. If I were to look at a pefect on-campus set up for FCS football for a school like UST, I'd look at Stony Brook, but even smaller. UST "flagshipped" football and I don't know that they're going to turn that ship around and become a "hockey school" with no on-campus hockey presence. So, if the idea is that they're going to flagship hockey, something is going bye-bye, and I'm thinking either baseball, softball or soccer, because it would be easiest to do those sports in and remain Title IX compliant (because they're relatively low profile. And, yes, I know they are among the most successful UST programs, but very few baseball/softball and soccer teams are revenue generating, and they take up the most space outside of football)

I'm a little nervous who Erdmann is going to throw to this season.  Gone are Gillach, Essler, Streit, Auger, and Eckhoff, who accounted for 180 catches in 2018.  VanErp (41 catches in 2018) returns, but other than that, no other returning player had more than 4 catches.  I hope that Gary restocked the cupboard!

I agree but have heard that some believe there could be more receiving talent on the team than there was last season.

*test*test*tap-tap-tap*is this thing on?*can you hear me out there?*

Greetings old friends and Tommies!

Duff, I had the same concerns, visions of Erdmann throwing into white space, a vacuum, if you will...In fact I mentioned it in a brief convo with a member of the offensive coaching staff. He looked at me shaking his head, said, "Fins, we could be even better receiving than we were last year."
So, there you have it.
Y'all feel free to stop by space #17 on 9/21 for a cold Hambone. We'll talk some more football.

So I'm not too familiar with how media partnerships work with FCS schools. If we assume WCCO and UST remain partners, is it likely that we'll have televised UST football games?

Only if U$T is willing to pay for it...they pay for radio now.

So is this something FCS schools typically do?
