Don't understand paying to tailgate. Help me out here...

There is a designated parking lot for tailgating (quite nice, actually), and it attracts a lot of people, requiring extra security staff, porta-potties, etc.  For big games, people will start parking there days ahead of time.  $JU decided to offset the cost and reduce the traffic by offering reserved parking in that lot.  And now you know the rest of the story.

Here's a glimpse:

Good luck to all your teams as we start the 2019 season. With 3 teams in the preseason top 10, you guys are good! Should be a great year and fun to watch and follow.
I wish all the very best. Play hard. GO MIAC!  ;D

Sent the oldest daughter off to kindergarten this morning.  It was very, very dusty at the bus stop, and then I got something caught in my throat to complicate matters...

Just in case anyone's looking for ways to get booted from the MIAC, here you go:

I really believe that U$T wanted an excuse to get out more than the rest of the MIAC wanted them out. St. Olaf provided them cover.

I would guess your belief isn't far off. The timing is consequential though. St Thomas had begun exploration into what it would take, but likely was a decade away from pulling the trigger on the move.

Regarding Tommie Johnnie surviving this. I would put the odds very low. Not a lot of upside for either team, other than a big gate (SJU does well with this anyways). If UST is successful in moving up, they are not looking back. I also wouldn't be surprised if the little weasel @ St Olaf tries to put in place a moratorium on playing UST in anything. The MIAC is his fiefdom now.

When a girl gets cheated on and mistreated by a boyfriend and consequently finds a better guy that treats her right, she marries him and has kids and a long happy life, we can say at the same time that she's better off for it AND that the first boyfriend is scum and she was mistreated.

Congratulations to you both-sincerely!  How exciting. What a great memory you will always have.  Enjoy it, cherish it and remember, you only get one chance at this.

@BDB

Good luck this weekend.  I hope the Johnnies come out and stamp their season on the Blue Devils ;) . But I won't forget when UST visited Menomonie a few seasons ago.  I hope the boys don't forget either.

Already got some plans with TDT and Veek before the game. Nothing like starting the season again with a Stagg caliber opponent.

In the meantime, I am recovering from moving my daughter into her dorm Saturday and my son into his dorm on Sunday. Two different schools in 2 different cities, both of them on the 4th floor.  :P

I think I blew out an ACL, a PCL, an MCL and any other "CL's" there are.  ;D

And, I pretty much have this lofting a bed thing down pat. Bring tools, including a rubber mallet.

I will be sending my daughter (only child) to Kindergarten on Friday.  I anticipate the waterworks, as well.   note:  Only in Boston would school start on a Friday.

Opening week!

Buena Vista/Hamline
Simpson/Bethel
Macalester/Carleton
Martin Luther/Gustavus
Crown (Minn.)/St. Olaf
Concordia/Wis.-La Crosse
Saint John's/Wis.-Stout
Augsburg/Ripon
Trinity Int'l/St. Thomas

I'll be intereseted in the SJU and BU games.  The rest of these are either snoozers, or I don't really care (i.e. Mac/Carleton--YAWN).  SJU has a tendency to start slow, so I am hoping that is not the case this year.  Plus, Stout will be a physical team.  BU should win, but it's early in the season, and they have some big holes to fill.

Concordia / LaCrosse will be worth a look.  And I'm interested to see how long Stout hangs with SJU.

Glad it's here!

Yeah, it will, but Concordia has such an unusual offense that it can be hard to glean too much from their results.

Not to bash the St. Cloud Times again, but I was hoping somewhere here in the last couple weeks there'd be a little preview of what's up, who's looking good (like some PT for the Cal Luth/Lake Forest transfer guy?), what up with the running backs and receivers, etc.  I should know better.
