Hmmmm - not sure what to make of Pat's comment in quick hits.

No hints given via BU's game preview in either the video, or the 2 deep.

On behalf of the City of Menomonie I would like to welcome Johnnie Nation to our wonderful community. Last time you were here was 19 years ago on a frigid November playoff day.

I'll be hanging with TDT and Veek in the tailgate lot just north of the stadium so if you are in attendance stop by and say hi.

For those at home here are the links to video/home audio: https://athletics.uwstout.edu/news/2019/9/5/football-preview-blue-devils-host-third-ranked-johnnies.aspx

Looking forward to a competitive game.  8-)

My sophomore year.  That was a blustery one, and the Blue Devils gave us all we could handle!  I'm hoping for a more lop-sided victory this time around.  :P

Interesting that Koenecke is listed as a RB. That guy has wheels as a returner. I remember a few years ago at UST, he burned us a few times (including one clip that showed up on the Bethel website where you can clearly here some colorful language about our kick coverage coming from the neighboring coaches booth). He was your second leading receiver last year, but no rushes.

Also, on the Facebook d3football.com link to quick hits, Pat responded to an inquiry about the Bethel comment: "Nope, that's not what this is about. Ask around the athletic department -- someone should know."

Just an observation

Buena Vista  51                 Westminster  66
Hamline 7                         Capital  7

Would Hamline - Capital be a good game?  ???  ;D

I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Buena Vista is still a last place team in the ARC until they prove otherwise.  I'd have to give Hamline 25 points against Capital.

Offensive highlights?  32 total offensive yards (vs. 552) and -1 yard rushing?  Unless BV really made some gigantic strides in the off-season, Hamline is going to struggle to win a game this year.
It's going to take a few years for Hamline to improve.  Their roster is a little larger than last year but still small (59), so there are a lot of people seeing playing time who aren't ready yet.  They only have 8 seniors and 8 juniors on the squad.  Hopefully they can build something

Sounds like a few starters were caught dancing.

All I can say about that Hamline game is OUCH.

Whoever writes their game stories sure is a "glass half full" person.

Duff: We kid. We kid. We kid ... our Tommie brothers about their post-UST career paths. Whether it's the UST alumni magazine note on the '96 grad getting trained on the fry machine or the phony divinity degree from that mall college in Schenectady . . .  we kid.

But the sad news here is that Hamline write-up was in all likelihood produced by a proud son of Summit & Cretin. What he did to get sentenced to 10 games per year of Piper fb is not yet known.

They lined him up all over the field at the scrimmage. Equal time in the backfield and out wide, and lots of motion back and forth. He looked really good.

BDB - Sorry I'm going to have to miss the opportunity to tailgate with you tomorrow.
19 years? Was that the year I was on the morning radio show with you? Seems like yesterday.
Please send me a new 16 oz. B & S mug along with Veek. Autograph it if you're not out of Sharpies at the store. I know there's been a run on them lately, with all the shifting weather patterns and such.
Have fun! Go Johnnies!

The "how to write a game story" handbook for SIDs could use an update.  UMD won 52-7 last night and got on sportscenter's top 10 plays, but didn't manage to mention the play in their story or their 4 minute video highlight package.  Minot State on the other hand spent 3 of their 4 paragraphs talking about the play in their game story.  Leave the one-sided highlights for the year end banquet, give us the drama of the game from both teams in the recap.

QuoteJones, Moton Offensive Highlights in FB Season Opener
Terrell Jones (22) sure knows how to make a great first impression. The freshman back had a 42 yard kickoff return -- the longest HU play of the night -- in a 51-7 season-opening setback to Buena Vista Thursday night at Klas Field. Jones also rushed for 11 yards on a pair of carries.

Manny Moton, a senior QB, also provided a highlight when he scampered 18 yards for a fourth quarter score for HU. It was the longest rushing play of the night for Hamline. The Georgian entered the game in the second half and ran for a team high 33 yards.

HU also got a solid effort from punter Riley Bakken, who averaged 42.5 yards on half a dozen efforts. The senior boomed a 60 yarder and knocked two kicks out of bounds inside the 20 yard line.

Monty Stenroos and Adrian Cracolici led the Piper defense with nine tackles each. Stenroos had a pair for losses and a six yard sack. Carson Reinard, a freshman, had a 12 yard interception and forced a fumble.

Offensive highlights?  32 total offensive yards (vs. 552) and -1 yard rushing?  Unless BV really made some gigantic strides in the off-season, Hamline is going to struggle to win a game this year.

That write up is amazing. Judging from the stats, those might have literally been the only positive things to talk about after the game. I guess he celebrate that all the Hamline players survived the experience as well??

I'm sure U$T, SJU or CSB will get blamed for running up the score in that one!!!
