I will leave this here.

Well, that was quicker than I thought. The Summit League makes as much sense as any other conference geographically. The non-revenue sports would probably compete very quickly. Basketball likely struggles for a short time. Hockey? Football?

Seems like a big if.  The NCAA isn't exactly known for lax view on their rules.

A tradition unrivaled...

Also, "sources say"

I have no idea if this Equal Time Soccer is reputable or if their sources are any good either. Is this akin to Charley Walters talking to some drunk on the street about the Big East? Time will tell.

This why Esten and the crew were hired. Pretty seamless! Assuming Pioneer for football, until the appropriate funds are raised to go scholarship, but we will see. It's going to be a bumpy ride. Hockey is another one that will need to find a home too.

Now taking bids to adopt a favorite DIII program  ;D

I would say its a tight race between the Cobbers and Gustavus, but their President's knock them out.

Well well well.

Assuming waiver to go direct to D1 is approved (I assume they have some indication if they are announcing this?), we'll stick in the MIAC for a 2nd year I guess.

Pat Coleman

Phew -- glad that when I was on WCCO last night I refused to engage in speculation about where the Tommies might be headed. :)

Having an invite can only help. I'm sure it would be impossible without someone who wanted them.

I would be disappointed to lose St. Thomas from Division III and I don't like the message it sends. Thanks again, COL.

It's all as official as it can be at this point. I just saw a copy of the announcement from UST (letter to the community from Dr. Julie Sullivan)

I suppose once the Summit League extends the invite, news getting out about that is inevitable. Hope it goes smoothly and all that. A little bummed, a little excited.
