Running, Barber is very solid (also a good receiver) and Trost is a "classic" Johnnie RB, probably faster than most.  Udoboik hasn't show much this year but looks like he's just waiting to bust loose.  I think they'd be just fine in a game they had to "carry" so to speak.

That is a good point. We have three good RB's who all offer a slightly different capability. We hardly get a good look at them because AirJohnnie(tm) is so dominant at the moment. But if backed into a corner I imagine those three could put a good game together.
Last year, 2.2 yards per carry was good enough thanks to Air Johnnie and some UST turnovers, but the year before that 0.1 (rounding up) wasn't enough so we'll see.

This is one of the more complete WR corps Bethel has ever had, IMO. Larson (114 rec yds per game) and Carlson are very good and they have legit depth too. The numbers get a bit skewed by opponent, score, weather, etc. But Bethel wants to be around 50/50, but also runs to set up the pass. The trick with Roste is that they run quite a bit out of the empty formation. It's not rocket science. When your QB is 6'4 240 and can outrun the secondary (see UST, Wartburg, NCC from last year), it puts a lot of stress on the D. Spy Roste and you are going to leave vulnerabilities in coverage. Stay back against the pass and he's good for 4+ yds a carry and is gonna fall forward for another couple in the open field just because of his size.

We've got a solid oline, but the biggest reason behind no sacks is that Roste is just so hard to bring down and such a threat to run. Gibas has become a real threat running and is very fast. Sid Boras his backup is starting to show some flash as well. Plus the heavy package when they bring in the UofM transfers at RB and FB with Roste.

All that to say, it's gonna be a good matchup. SJU trying to force Bethel to throw the ball out of 3rd and long situations. Bethel trying to get pressure and hang tough against Eerdman slinging it. Both teams are good on both sides of the ball. Both sides have really good skill guys and very good QB (albeit with different skill sets). Should be fun. High scoring favors SJU IMO.

Hmm... BU does seem pretty balanced.  Congratulations.  I'm so happy for you.

But I will be getting up at 4am on Sunday to watch this whole game.  No sleeping in this weekend, that's for sure.  I'll watch this one in the family room, I think, on the TV rather than tucked warm in bed and watching on the laptop.  I'll likely be jumping around like a crazy man and waking up half the house, but them's the breaks for them guys.

Ok, all, Mrs Oz did a big spring clean-out of the girl's wardrobes on the weekend and collected a little Hawthorn gear.  So as you're all so hot on the AFL I thought I could do another contest where the winner gets some unique kit (there have been two previous contests over the years but I can only remember one - the date that SJU announced Gagliardi's replacement).

If anyone has an idea for a contest then I have a prize.  The week that UST/NCAA announces D1 is on or not?  That could be over a year away, though.  I could save this stuff until that gets a little closer to a decision?  Anyways, any ideas from any source are welcome.

Just send it to that arrogant ass rev in Washington...
Everyday is payday in paradise.

Contest #2 was for when SJU announced their OC.  I won.

A tradition unrivaled...

Other potential hockey location could be a renovation of the coliseum at the fair grounds. Hockey has been played there and it's due for some total re-work. Plenty of parking available and not as far from campus

Nope. Don't see any reference to the coliseum as a possibility over there.

Have you been inside the coliseum?  Would be an awful venue.

You cannot best U$T running the ball.

Why would you say that? Bethel beat UST last year and had over 200 yards rushing and under 200 passing.

The only rework that would be sufficient would require a bulldozer.

There are exceptions to every rule. They had a 90yd run by the QB for a TD and a blocked punt for a TD,  in a 21-15 win. Bottom line it's been  traditionally tough to run the ball on the Tommies.
