Blake Patrick is another unsung hero.
His hands have been a bit questionable the past few years, but he has always been in the mix.  Good time for him to step into a bigger role.  I know that I questioned who Jackson was going to throw to this year, at the midpoint of the season, I'd say we don't have a lack of talent at WR!  :o

That we do not.  Although greener, I think this year's receiving corp is even better than last year's.  Gillach was a superstar, but I reckon this set is deeper.  When these four sophomores are all seniors together?  It will be criminal.

I'm amazed by the factoid I picked up a week or two ago on an article about Alston that his TD catches this year were his first since the 8th grade.  As good as he is, he couldn't break into high reps with three or four D1 receivers at his high school in front of him.  Sheesh.  Whatever veggies they are eating out in that Cali town sure grow an abundance of fast kids with good hands.
VISTA MURRIETA -SJU has had some really good players from that Orange County area in the past 6 years
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

And rebuilding the o-line will be a huge task ....

Yes, true.  They were extremely good on the weekend.

My rose-colored glasses disagree with jamtod's reasoned argument.

Might be time to put down the bottle of pink wine then, Oz.

If St Thomas beats Bethel, does the MIAC end the year without a Pool C bid?

The old two-dollar staple in the Navy days.  Broke but want a buzz and have no pride?  A little Boonies will do the trick.

Final TD for SJU? Anyone who complained about this doesn't know football or sports in general. It was still a game. Someone mentioned it earlier, that score put it out of reach, period. Anything can happen in a less than 2-score game and 30secs. left.

Replacing Erdmann next year? His first two years were just ok (IMHO). Then along came Heckendorf and Erdmann is an All-American. I believe the system and play calling has something to do with this. While the replacement might not be Erdmann, I'm sure he'll do fine. I would be more concerned with keeping that OC happy  :)

Heard this over the weekend, assuming the move is approved by the NCAA (which from my understanding is a formality) UST football would consider playing an independent schedule by offering to keep all MIAC games with whomever wants the game for next year but assuming some don't (Hamline, STO, Car, Aug) they would schedule bottom half teams from Pioneer, MVFC and/or NSIC as a D1 independent for one year. Regardless, at the end of the day, D1 is going to happen and they are talking to another level of recruit right now as we speak.

I just assumed it was a 24/7 thing for Oz, based on the quality of his posts here!!!!

The upcoming week in the MIAC looks pretty ho-hum. The higher rated teams should beat the lower ranked teams. Hamline has the bye this week.

Gustavus travels to Augsburg to win on the road.

St. Thomas travels down to Northfield for the first week of two in a row to take out their frustration on Carleton.

St. John's heads to Northfield as well to take on the Oles of St. Olaf. Hopefully the visiting team buses don't stop at the same McDonalds.  ;D

Game of the week, has to be Bethel traveling up into Moorhead to take on the Cobbers.

Looks like all four visiting teams should come away with wins.

Then along came Heckendorf...

That was the change I was referring to which wouldn't have been easy for Gary.

Erdmann - his first couple years were filled with injuries, so we saw glimpses but never got the fully weaponized version.

That last part is weird. It would mean bouncing to D1 in all sports next year. Would we play an independent schedule in EVERYTHING for a year? Weird.
I could see a possibility for the MIAC to let us play D3 independent for football for the year, and play whatever Pioneer League teams will have us to help with the transition, etc.
Scheduling independent in everything is just a pain and a little silly if we've got the option to play the conference schedule.

I don't see how that's anything other than a non-starter. I don't see how we could be D1/FCS in one sport and D3 in others. Unless we technically remained D3, followed D3 scholarship guidelines, but tried to play a partially D1 schedule. That could be kind of fun.
