If St Thomas beats Bethel, does the MIAC end the year without a Pool C bid?
It's still  early, but that would be my bet.

It's my assessment as well.

Agreed. Would take a long chain of events to open the door for us. Just feels a little tragic when MIAC had 3 top 10 teams at one point. Saturday's performance (and obviously Eau Claire) make it such that I won't be attempting an argument that we belong top 20 anymore.

Final TD for SJU? Anyone who complained about this doesn't know football or sports in general. It was still a game. Someone mentioned it earlier, that score put it out of reach, period. Anything can happen in a less than 2-score game and 30secs. left.

Replacing Erdmann next year? His first two years were just ok (IMHO). Then along came Heckendorf and Erdmann is an All-American. I believe the system and play calling has something to do with this. While the replacement might not be Erdmann, I'm sure he'll do fine. I would be more concerned with keeping that OC happy  :)

Heard this over the weekend, assuming the move is approved by the NCAA (which from my understanding is a formality) UST football would consider playing an independent schedule by offering to keep all MIAC games with whomever wants the game for next year but assuming some don't (Hamline, STO, Car, Aug) they would schedule bottom half teams from Pioneer, MVFC and/or NSIC as a D1 independent for one year. Regardless, at the end of the day, D1 is going to happen and they are talking to another level of recruit right now as we speak.

Erdmann - his first couple years were filled with injuries, so we saw glimpses but never got the fully weaponized version.

That last part is weird. It would mean bouncing to D1 in all sports next year. Would we play an independent schedule in EVERYTHING for a year? Weird.
I could see a possibility for the MIAC to let us play D3 independent for football for the year, and play whatever Pioneer League teams will have us to help with the transition, etc.
Scheduling independent in everything is just a pain and a little silly if we've got the option to play the conference schedule.

No just football (my understanding)

I don't see how that's anything other than a non-starter. I don't see how we could be D1/FCS in one sport and D3 in others. Unless we technically remained D3, followed D3 scholarship guidelines, but tried to play a partially D1 schedule. That could be kind of fun.

Yeah, I don't have all of the details, I just heard it was an option they were considering. Maybe, they would be considered a D1 program but play out the MIAC obligation without being eligible for the conference championship. Essentially being a non-conf. game for the entire league schedule?

Perhaps. I just don't see the issue being with the MIAC but rather with the D1/D3 designation. If we aren't starting the scholarship transition (a non-issue with Pioneer League anyway) and weren't concerned about playoff eligibility (wouldn't be eligible in D1 anyway), a MIAC heavy independent D3 schedule with whatever FCS teams will put us on the schedule makes sense.

Mr.MIAC

I forgot to mention this little tidbit yesterday. I started talking to a guy at the airport who was wearing a St. Olaf polo. It turned out that he's an administrator. I was wearing a UST hat and he asked for my thoughts on the game. I expressed my disappointment about the outcome, and he immediately responded, "Well, you know that St. Johns has low admissions standards for athletes. That's how they can bring in so many players." Here's the moral of the story: It might be a good idea to play only freshmen against St. Olaf, lest you want spark another controversy in the MIAC.

Jay's doing fine job recruiting Riverside County CA.
There are many new high schools built in the last five years.

Even better was stealing one from Dayton OR seven miles from McMinnville.

The Lutherans have a definite lack of the sense of Catholic charity.  When Martin Luther nailed that list of grievances to the church door he must have used his stone-cold heart as the hammer.

Long time listener, first time caller. My question is for MIAC MAN about the state of the UST football recruiting mojo being lost.
I'm a little confused about this. You have said numerous times that UST isn't getting the "game changer type of player" that they have in seasons past. What has changed? New recruiting staff? If they are having a tough time finding D3 game changing athletes why would they suddenly be able to find game changing D1 athletes? I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, Im just trying to understand the logic.
I'll hang up and listen.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I'm at a local place enjoying a little chicken wild rice soup, fried walleye, and Grain Belt Premium before my flight back to DC. It's hard to find this stuff outside MN. I've also been extremely hungover the past two days, which means I'm probably getting a little too old for this s**t. Anyway, it was a great game played at what felt like a pretty natural venue. I think it would nice to play some games there after the move to DI. The no beer sales thing was a little weird, thus the hangover from too much pre-gaming. Our little party at the Minneapolis Club was great fun. My thanks goes out to those who joined us. There will be one more opportunity to beat the Johnnies, so looking forward to next year

TaTa.  I really hope that your family likes you...

Umm, I'm not sure what this even means. It's stanbob, so it's probably meant to be mean-spirited. It's hard to tell, though.
Me either, I guess it's the power of the Frontenac grape...

I do have a pretty good answer for this. Stay tuned tomorrow.

Ha. Hold the audience over to the next show. Well done.  8-)

One of the reasons I like TJ Hodge is that he shares a name with Hawthorn's own Captain Courageous, Luke "Hodgey" Hodge.  Hodgey is a 3x Premiership captain and a 4x Premiership player.   A very hard nut, as they say, who continually put his body on the line to lead Hawthorn to success.  Let's hope our own Hodgey reaches similar inspirational heights.

While I have no issue with the td, I am curious how a score of 31-20 is a less than 2 score game. I am going to assume you meant less than 3 score game.
