Pat - that stinks.  I'm disappointed to hear about how they've handled things from start to finish.  I'm not going to pretend to be some sort of big shot alum who has heavy influence, but I have had several conversations with Dr. Barnes (whether he would remember me by name is another question), and I'll be reaching out to him to share my feelings.

Bush league indeed.  They need to be better.

And not to be a tag-a-long on G&BBU lately, I whole-heartedly agree with his sentiment. If you were stiffed by any organization who is basically bullying because they cannot be held to account, then alumni do need to say something about it until it is rectified/made right.

I'll look into it and let you know what happens moving forward.

Believe it our not i was checking something in regards to MIAC volleyball when i noticed a link to this item which was posted today:
https://www.miacathletics.com/general/2019-20/releases/20191021or8qg6

Not to start a discussion about volleyball..So i follow the MIAC on Instagram...this evening they posted the regional volleyball rankings.

https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/volleyball-women/d3/regional-rankings

I noticed that Olaf is at the top and that U$T was #5. Being somewhat surprised i checked the MIAC standings expecting to see Olaf at or near the top...nope...tied for 5th at 4 and 3 (21-4 overall)...they've lost to u$t, GAC and unranked St. Marys....u$t is at the top at 7-0 (24-4 overall) I don't get it???

a 3-year plan after a pair of 4-year plans? Sounds like Chairman Mao is alive & well!

Should they amend the first listed "Core value"? it currently says "quality athletics"....should that be altered to say "quality athletics so long as you're not too good"?

to add to the confusion:

CSB is 12th, Auggie is 13th... UST is 22nd...and Olaf? 26th

Maybe you get bonus points in regional rankings for good choir?

IMO, drawing from past experiences is that the NCAA is considered to be one of the biggest bullies out there. Plain and simple they own college sports and will do what ever is best for them. They are not worried or concerned with a few member institutions crying about unfair treatment or protecting their exclusiveness. Bottom line, if they want another D1 institution in the Minnesota/Twin Cities market it is going to happen and the NCAA will not be answering to anybody, period.

There's that, too.  The flip-side of the exclusive club argument is that if they want to let the Costanzas into Boca Vista Phase II then they will even if the Seinfelds have a fit.  "We're filling this club the way we want to fill it."  That would certainly be the angle which UST would push and it's the argument underlying the Summit commissioner's support when he talks about UST's size and geo location really filling out the Summit.  The juice this guy and the other Summit schools have will be important, that's for sure.

I believe it was actually DEL Boca Vista Phase II, which I assume is a nod to the king of retirement communities - DEL Webb, since, if my high school Spanish is still right, doesn't fit in the way it is used.

Question (yes, working avoided for five more minutes):

Is this the year that CON finally gives up on the ancient offense?  It's reached a point of undeniable embarrassment.  It looks like stubbornness for the sake of being stubborn.  The defense is modern and dynamic so they aren't absolutely opposed to growing with the times.  But, damn, they are stubborn on offense.

I certainly won't defend the Concordia offensive scheme. Triple option teams with success DO have a passing threat (think Oklahoma in the '70s and early '80s). But even in recent years when the Cobbers showed more passing success—even deep patterns—they seldom finished above 3rd in the conference. This year, not only have they seldom thrown, and even more seldom been successful with it, they have really battled turnovers and overall poor execution of the basic tenets of the scheme. With NDSU being the F-M area darlings, the Cobbers aren't getting fans in the stands the way the have done historically (usually a top 10 in d3 nationally). In the current state, they simply are not an entertaining team to watch. I would love to see a change.

That said, they had LaCrosse tied in regulation before losing in OT (due to a fumbled pitch). They played WW tough (but offense was not up for the upset). They had Gustavus beaten until a defense breakdown on a last minute play.

I throw all that in, because for as one dimensional and turnover prone as they have been, outside of the slaughter vs. UST, they have been dominating the lesser opponents and still hanging in with some good to very good teams. I expect they will give Bethel fits this weekend too, having had an extra week to prep...but they MUST show more balance.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Yeah, I'm just never comfortable writing the Cobbers off.

Final TD for SJU? Anyone who complained about this doesn't know football or sports in general. It was still a game. Someone mentioned it earlier, that score put it out of reach, period. Anything can happen in a less than 2-score game and 30secs. left.

While I have no issue with the td, I am curious how a score of 31-20 is a less than 2 score game. I am going to assume you meant less than 3 score game.

The lead was less than two scores to win or tie. 11 is less than two TD's (a quick td, an onside kick and another td wins the game.)

Ok, here is how it goes. A score does not have to mean a td, it can also be a field goal. Being down by 11 points is a 2 score game (not less than 2 scores). A td with a 2 point conversion and a field goal will tie the game. When you say less than 2 scores, that means 1 score, and the most you can get from 1 score is 8 points (a td and 2 point conversion). Now if you had said less than a 2 td game, then you would have been correct, but it is not less than a 2 score game.

Follow that with feats of strength.  Pat's not allowed back on campus till he pins BU's AD to the ground.
