I just remembered something I heard on KFAN the other morning in an interview with Fleck. They asked him about a walk-on, Pete Bercich Jr. He was on UST's roster last year, but I don't think he played much. Interesting to hear he walked on at the U then
Hi guys, long time no post! I see Bercich Jr. each game on the sidelines at Gopher games, no pads. He is there though and I wondered where he came from, now I know.

As far as STO vs UST today, I hope UST really puts the hammer down on them not only for creating this MIAC mess but also due to the recent move by the AD to drop wrestling at STO. The wrestling community is trying to reach him and he will not even return an email. A total coward showing his "elitist" stripes.

The current athletic department is a mess.  Dropping wrestling is only small piece of something greater.  I am not sure the wrestling team ever got the support they needed to succeed.  I've read a few comments from former wrestlers about the situation.  A decision should have been made in how to make the team viable.  You can't tell me that there aren't enough kids wrestling that it isn't a viable sport.  I could argue adding women's wrestling might be a better move.  You can add this to the handling of multiple coaching changes to the list of issues.  Watching the hockey game last night with the lack of attendance was depressing.  I feel bad for a lot of people involved in the athletic department, because they are being jerked around in ways that prevent them from succeeding.

Congrats to the Cobbers. I had them left for dead in this one. When it was 4th and 9 in OT I thought they were done. To win it on a TD pass after everything that's been said about their passing game was poetic.

Stinks for Bethel and SJU. Hurts both resumes for seeding and for Bethel just making the field.

Again, hats off to the Cobbers. Fought hard all day.

Big season-brightspot victory for Concordia today...gritty and a bit strange, but they got the job done against a sleepwalking SJU team. It certainly takes some of the sting away from the GAC loss that was taken from the clutches of victory. Overall, however, I can't make sense of this Cobber season. The losses against UST and Bethel really seem to speak to a Concordia team that failed to show up.

Still...take today. It was sweet.
If the human brain were so simple that we could fully understand it...we would be so simple that we couldn't.

Gary acknowledged that the kicking game finally cost us. The only bright spot that I see is that it cost us in the regular season & didn't end the season for us. The Cobbers showed up so congrats to them! Not sure where St John's was. Going into today's game Erdmann had 3 interceptions on the season. Threw 4 today. I can't imagine many picked an upset going into today.

QuoteI reckon the Cobbers are trouble.  They have a lot of pride in Morehead and won't roll over.

I mean it sucks Johnnies lost and we can all contemplate what it means for playoffs, but you do have to chuckle and admire the absurdity of college football. Johnnies gain nearly 600 yards to bit over 200. 0 for 3 on PATS is comical...and one is returned for two points! Concordia completes 2 passes for 18 yards in 4 quarters...and then throws a 24 yard TD on 4th down in OT. Zany. Ridiculous. But...sort of humorous. I say as I drink.

But congrats to the Cobbers. That was an old-school ugly Cobber-Johnnie game (it should have probably ended in a tie like many did in the past), and to pull it out during a tough season and to intercept the best QB in D3 4 times...that makes a season.

For selfish reasons I hope that loss puts sju as the 3 seed in the uww bracket and I can go to uww thanksgiving weekend for the game.

I was getting ready to type congrats to the Johnnie fans on the win when the Cobs got the overtime TD on the 4th down hail mary into the endzone. I'm still not sure how the Cobs won in the end. SJU's offense held the ball almost the whole 2nd half it seemed.

SJU is still making the playoffs. Maybe this game is a wake up call where they needed to get tested. The Johnnies special teams need to get fixed or winning against top teams in the quarterfinals and past will be tough. I"m not sure I've ever seen a block extra point get returned for a 2 point play.

Yeah, the Cobbers came to play and the Johnnies didn't.  The Cobbers took every one of their chances.  You really need to hand it to them.  They are having a crap season but they never quit.  Say it's the loss the Johnnies had to have, maybe?  We'll find out.

There were a lot of things not to like about this game.  But the Cobbers took what was there to take.

We'll see how resilient the Jays are.  It's a long road now.  Go hard, boys.

If BU beast UST then do they take the Conference?  What about if UST win?  I'll have to look up the rules real quick.

St. Johns holds the head to head on both Bethel and St. Thomas so I would think that would dictate the automatic bid.

OzJohnnie

Ties will be broken in order to select the automatic qualifier to the NCAA playoffs as follows:

1. Head‐to‐Head winner among all teams tied
2. Results against teams not tied as the league leaders in descending order after the tied teams
3. Point differential between tied team
4. Team not in the NCAA playoffs most recently (If a tie still remains, result of head‐to‐head competition between the remaining tied teams will receive the automatic bid.)
5. Highest Massey Rating
6. Coin Flip

So, Jays stay on top as the HTH winner against both UST and BU?

sfury

Yeah if Johnnies beat Hamline they're in. Even if they'd lose the last nonconference game of the year. Should be able to beat the Pipers. Provided it doesn't come down to a PAT.

sju56321

So Rose-hulman, with a win next week might win the conference-not sure of their tie breaker. So sju better figure out the special teams real soon or they could end the last 3 games of the regular season 1-2-yikes!
