What do you think an eight-figure donation means? I'm thinking more than $60 million, but less than $99 million. I'm not sure why UST would withhold the figure. Whatever the figure might be, it's very generous of the Morrison family.

Wonderful gift for UST....you are probably accurate with your range guess.  Not disclosing the figure is the result of some combo of several items; a yet to be determined final valuation of assets (business or real estate) to be transferred to fund the gift, an estate component (where some portion of the gift is funded at the death of the donors) and since they are still alive-hard to value, the total need for funding the College of Health at inception is a moving target (not all expenses will be known up front; facility costs, faculty costs etc..) and thus final gift will align with that investment once it is known how much it will take and lastly some layer of donors' request for discretion.  Announcing an exact figure with this size of transformational philanthropic investment has become rare.

Sports Illustrated subscribers--- does the picture of a California HS field on pages 64-65 of the Nov 4 issue look eerily like Clemens Stadium?  Also, nice to see UWEC head coach Wesley Beschorner featured in the update section of Faces in the Crowd...  maybe that explains UST's loss to the BluGolds?

This was a very good catch on the HS field pictured....it does look exactly like Clemens prior to the new construction that started in 1997 and has been updated a hand full of times since.

I still find it quite amusing that UST complained about getting booted from the MIAC.  UST doesn't want to be there.  It's obvious they weren't long for the conference.  So they left on the member's schedule rather than their own.  Big deal.  They were leaving all the same.

I don't necessarily disagree, but what does this have to do with a large donation that endows the college of health?

Are you such a arrogant ass in real life (and I hear that you are), or just a special prick to this board?  Would love to hear anyone else defend you...

Wow. 1,250 anticipated students. Undergraduate and graduate nursing, psychology, sociology, and P.A. Physical and occupational therapy are probably next. UST isn't messing around about expanding into all the growing fields. St. Kates must be pissed. I'm curious on where they'll put all those extra students?

some at Kate's are still pissed UST went co-ed in 1977, insisting it was an attempt to kill off St Kate's.  If it was such an attempt, it failed miserably.

Multiple people have told me that at several junctures UST wanted to merge with St. Kate's, and was open to keeping the women's college intact, but they rejected the proposals. If St. Kate's is about to die on the vine, which it likely will do, it's their own fault. I see them evolving into the Radcliffe of the MidwestTM within 20 years.

Someone asked earlier about SJU's XP stats. Here's the game-by-game breakdown:

UW-Stout 2-2
Gustavus 3-4
Carleton 4-5
Augsburg 7-9
Bethel 1-3 (one was a bad snap that led to the holder scrambling to try and make a throw, so if you're looking at just missed kicks, it's 1-2)
UST 2-5
St. Olaf 6-8
Concordia 0-3
TOTALS  25-39 (64.1%)

At this rate, 2-point conversions are preferable if they can convert at a 1-3 rate or higher.

Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

God forbid that Julie Sullivan and the leadership at UST run the place like a business and address the opportunities in the workplace and needs of society as a whole....its not as though the data and evidence that they are using to determine what disciplines they need to grow in, is not available to EVERY other school.  It's called LEADERSHIP and VISION....and it resonates with prospective students and their parents during the college search process.  All the schools pissing and moaning about what UST does are acting like MySpace in the early 2000s....and unfortunately some will end up with similar outcomes.

Thank you for this! I hope the loss to the Cobbers leads to an awakening for the team & a renewed sense of determination to carry them deep into the playoffs! The kicking game was the one glaring weakness prior to the game, but the turnovers & inability to convert in the red zone, which were uncharacteristic, proved fatal Saturday.

The coaching staff needs to figure this out or the team will be sitting at home for Thanksgiving.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

If not for strong rivalries with Bethel and St Thomas would the Johnnies here be doing the same navel-gazing and historical QB ranking that the Mount fans are doing over on the OAC board?
Once UST is gone and when Bethel has another string of down years, this is what you have to look forward to, huh.
