As someone who saw Monmouth live this year Iwould say they are on a par with some other teams in the 8-10 range of other regions (north) and deserved a spot in the West given the lack of 1 loss teams. As to their SOS, it is good, but I would say it's more like top 5 as they benefited from the timely forfeiture of Grinnell's games a week before they played them and never got docked for playing what was an 0-3 team. That probably would have made them .40 lower or so in SOS.

While we're on the topic of rookies, welcome to the boards, 13! Is the number an indicator of your graduation year? or perhaps a jersey number during your playing days?

I reckon Oz or ROR have read you the board rules: fishing, beer, Aussie Rules Football, general allusions to the licentious nature of women who work the corner of Cretin and Summit in St. Paul, and, oh yeah, D3 football are all fair game. Political talk will get you shunned in a hurry. The others will fill in where I've omitted anything.

That fart noise you just heard was Tommie supporters talking about the Summit League and being an institution comparable to Boston College.

Thanks all for the welcome, and I appreciate getting to understand the lay of the land. 13 is reference to the grad year.
13 was a great year to graduate :p

Hey, art, I was just thinking of you. I follow a YouTube channel called Computerphile and they published a video I thought you would be interested in.

Thanx Oz! I'll finish watching the build after I get back from a meeting tonight. Alas, I have an older version - 2, but with plenty of oomph for my rocket video project.

Double thanx, Oz!  There is so much more info on Raspberry Pis these days, and it just keeps getting better and better, all on the board the size of a deck of cards.

Some IT friends/neighbors were talking about something and referenced a raspberry pi.  I assumed they were talking about actual pie.  Thankfully, another confused guy piped in and asked WTH they were talking about.  :D

The real tip to my nerdiness lies in the command line below the spinning raspberry: #yum update, which is used to update older Fedora forked Linux machines, including Red Hat.

Would be surprised by a sellout, though ....

Hmm... I wonder what they talked about a little during a prep session?

Attendance has sucked the past few games (though parking has been easy).  I'd imagine we'll have right around 4000.

But, did play two regionally ranked opponents, one a No. 1 seed, and has the highest SOS in Division III. A 9 slot in the West isn't a ton to ask in a year where no MIAC and only one WIAC school finished with one loss.

I will say this is probably the worst Monmouth team in the past 5-7 years. The conference was extremely down this year. To the Scots credit we did play two top 25 teams in non-conference but couldn't do a darn thing against them (Wheaton almost had more points than we had yards!)

The strongest SOS in the country is off based as well. I would say a WIAC or MIAC schedule is much tougher than what a MWC schedule with two very strong non-conference games is. I do think conference champs should be in the playoffs but you scratch your head when you see Monmouth playing this week and John Carroll is sitting at home. Especially after you see what the score is at 3pm on Saturday. It will be ugly.
