I still think that Simpson game in 86 or 87 with fred Jackson was the best I ever saw at Collegeville.

The Simpson game you are thinking of was 1989 and Ricky Gales (as Pat mentioned) was the RB of the day...Nov. 19, 1989 he rushed for 389 yards in a 42-35 loss at SJU...my freshman year...game ended with a near brawl after we intercepted their QB on their sideline.  John tackled two of my teammates as they were attempting to join the fracas.

Fred Jackson played for Coe in 2002 when Duffman played.

Thank you. I guess it blended together. Ricky Gales-That was still the best game. But should have fact checked myself.

I just realized that Saturday's noontime start will actually be a noontime start for me!! Yay Pacific timezone!!! Oz, that is two more hours of sleep for you! I thought about going to the game until I saw it is a 17 hour drive!!! And that wouldn't even account for traffic!

Anybody know if playoff rosters are posted anywhere? I didn't buy one yesterday because they were $8 and that was the same price as my ticket and out of principle i just wasn't gong to spend that in 3 sheets of paper!!

It was $8 but it did have all 32 team's rosters.
If anyone has one maybe you could take photo of the SJU roster and email it to me? My address should be in my profile.
Just so you know--the program has the full roster===not the playoff roster====so you can find the same info on the St. John's website.

How often has a unranked playoff team ended up in the final top 25. Aurora has my vote. The QB is one of the best I've seen at this level. His accuracy is the best I've seen with consistent passes just out of the reach of SJU defenders and where his WR could make plays, which they did.

The SJU J-Club is hosting a viewing party for Saturday's game at Chapman. Please register at the link for planning purposes. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/15BSeP1pm9n3OeO_P-Fi190zdOKKI00fiTZXJjLndd10/edit

I'd say it happens a couple of times a year. I don't know how often it happens with a team whose only playoff result is a good loss, though.

Maybe I'm missing something. How can it happen a couple times a year for the 'final' Top 25?  ;)

Pretty easily -- because it can happen with more than one team in the same Top 25.

I assume that the Johnnies will fly into John Wayne Airport. I hope they all get a good look at the statue of "The Duke" and take inspiration.

I guess I took a 'couple of times a year' to mean it happens more than once a year (multiple weeks during the year), not multiple teams. Interesting - I wouldn't think it would happen too often that the final top 25 would include previously unranked teams but obviously I don't follow it anywhere near as close as you do.

Pretty much every year 1-3 unranked teams go on a run in the playoffs and get ranked in the final poll.  Like Pat, I don't recall a team jumping into the rankings despite losing their first game, however impressive the opponent may be.  But I suspect it has happened before, and may well happen with Aurora, IF SJU goes on a run of their own.  When I was a voter in the fan poll, I always checked out the opponents of the final four teams to see who had 'impressive' losses against them.
