Should be a great game in Wheaton Saturday. My initial take is that it's a great matchup. Wheaton seems a little more balanced on Offense, has a great RB and likely has the stronger D (which is saying a lot because SJU has a great D, but their secondary has been spotty of late). Erdmann is a game changer, obviously. Should be the best line play either team has seen all year. If the weather holds that's a bonus for SJU's passing attack.

I think the winner, if healthy, probably has the inside track on a title.

On another theme to take from the weekend, if it is an all CCIW Stagg bowl, would that elevate them to the number 1 conference in the country? Hmmmm..... interesting development....

We fans have been treated to some amazing passing offenses the last two weekends.
I'd love to see a 7 on 7 tournament between St. John's, Aurora, NCC and MT. All are incredible.

No.  Assuming rankings are based on top-to-bottom, the bottom of the WIAC is vastly better than the bottom of any other conference (does any other conference have a bottom feeder that would knock off UST?).  But it might move us up several levels.  Our bottom is probably at least the equal of Hamline, etc.

And it would give us a clear claim of #1 top of the conference status!

It's a pity that some Johnnies have such an inferiority complex. The truth is that outside the annual football game, most Tommies don't spend more than a few passing moments thinking about Johnnies. Yet there are Johnnies who get great satisfaction out of critiquing every move UST makes. When will it stop?

Love my Johnnies but i think the Erdmann Era ends in Wheaton. I just don't think we can play a clean 🧼 enough game to win. Honestly I believe our biggest issue is our inconsistent o-Line.

I went back to watch a few of those frustrating sacks and to be fair Chapman were stunting a lot and 44 was getting straight shots in as the rushers outnumbered the blockers. 44 also got those two blocked kicks. He's exceptionally quick off the line.  The Johnnies will need to roll out old Tommie film because everyone will be stunting and blitzing with vigour from here on out. They may need to go five wide a little less often. A little more three wide with some shorter passes. But then they still manage 50+ points so what do I know?

Mount is out. Playoffs are as wide open as they've been in 15 years.

So is mount finally out of the post and pre season 2019 top 8?
Put them on the road next year!!!!

In 2016 they won multiple road games to reach the semis and in 2017 they won a road semifinal to get to (and win) the Stagg. I don't think Mount Union will be fazed by a road game or two next year in the playoffs.

Gotta love a Johnnie win to cap off Thanksgiving weekend! A little worried with our start - I'd imagine Wheaton would turn one or two of those FGs into TDs. Nice to see Tommy starting at CB. It looked like he was having issues against Aurora. It was also nice to see some of the second teasers get action, especially the seniors.

How similar is Wheaton to Chapman in offensive and defensive schemes?

Congrats to SJU with your win against Chapman.  You guys were bigger, stronger, faster than Chapman and are very well-coached and it translated to the scoreboard. 

To answer your question about Wheaton, on offense, Wheaton runs multiple offenses, depending on what the defense is showing.  At times they will run the spread, at times they will run a more traditional pro set with 2 TE's and at times they mix the two.  On defense, they run a 4-3, but their SAM is a converted Safety that acts as a hybrid linebacker/DB.
