Watched the SJU post-game highlight reel,
Wow, looked like another easy 50-0 win and the coach gave no credit to the other team    ::) ::) ::)

AO, do a little research next time....9 seconds into the NCAA mandated post-game presser Gary does exactly that...I have attached the Youtube link to save you time....

Might want to do a little research AO...attached is the post-game presser where Gary mentioned and gave credit to Wheaton 9 seconds into the video.

it was a joke redtooth, but I'll take this time to reiterate what a missed opportunity it is to make a one-sided highlight video.  The game was great because both teams made plays.  As Pat noted previously, check out North Central's video of their win against Mount Union.  https://youtu.be/6yGg2EdL3mI  You can go back and relive the drama of the game.  Sportscenter isn't there to tell the story evenly and I don't think anybody is going to make an NFL films style documentary on the game.  The responsibility of telling the story of the game often falls to the teams themselves.

They (North Central) do one of the best jobs that I've seen of having a highlight / recap of the game.  You see the big plays, and get narrative on what happened.  Here's the one from BU's game there last year in the 2nd round.

Dang, we're awfully serious on these boards the last two days.  Getting nervous with the high stakes, I suppose.

To lighten the mood:

Two Whitewater players are standing at the ticket counter in the train station.  "Can I take this train to Chicago?" asks the first one.

"No," says the guy in the ticket booth.

"Can I?" asks the second player.

Note the post TD ball spike at the 1:50 mark.  Not called.   :o

Whoops. Don't let the Wheaton folks see that one. They'll be petitioning the NCAA to bring the teams back down to Illinois to have a regular extra-point try and a potential overtime session if it's made.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Boys of Fall

I still like the players that toss the ball to the ref after scoring a touchdown and the team runs off the field.  I also think this is the best way to say, "we've done this before, that's why we're out here".  But, this is the ESPN generation and no one is just satisfied with doing what they're supposed to do.

Chatting with Redtooth about the Johnnie offensive depth and if there's ever been a team in school history with so many weapons (I'll spare the non-Johnnies the full discussion but our consensus was no, even if some years have had more dominant individuals, ala the Elliott years) and he noted the insanity of the receiving stats from year to year.

2018 catches
Alston         0
Hodge        0
Mohr           0
Kemper      0
Patrick       4
Barber       4
Trost          1

2019
Alston        77 catches, 1,301 yards, 12 TDs
Hodge       70 catches, 1,023 yards, 8 TDS
Mohr         34 catches, 607 yards, 2 TDs
Kemper     18 catches 7 TDs
Patrick       13 and 3 touchdowns, including 2 in Saturday's win
Trost           27 catches and 4 TDs
Barber        21 catches, 3 touchdowns

I dare say there can't be too many times in NCAA history when a team had two guys go from zero catches to both being over 1,000 yards the next season.

Think receiving was a big question mark coming into the year and then the new guys go and do that. Impressive performance by them and obviously the coaches as well deserve a lot of credit. And, uh, the best QB in school history helped a bit too.

Now that's impressive! Would probably put the fear of God in many a timid soul.
But don't forget - you have more than super athletes - you have TRADITION.
The name "St. John's" (the one in Minnesota) means something very special.
I am very proud of my alma mater (Mount Union), you can certainly be very proud of yours. ✝ 🎓 🏈
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

We've had AirJohnnie(tm) in years past but nothing like those stats.  SJU is a gunslinger's delight this year.  Another difference between this year and last is the spread of receivers.

Last year Erdmann passed for 3450 yards and the top two receivers accounted for 57% while the top 5 accounted for 95%.  This year he's passed for 4698 yards and the top two account for 49% and the top 5 for 80%.  The pass attack has much greater target depth, really stretching a defense to play it all.  In fact, this year Erdmann has had six different receivers with over 100 yards catching and 18 100+ yard games amongst those six.

I do find it humorous that there has been a little criticism of Erdmann's game being he's spectacular at the long ball but not so good at the short ball.  I think when you can bomb three 50+ TD's a game then the long ball becomes a bit more prominent.  You don't need to throw the short ball just to move the chains when you can pack the whole thing in on one or two plays.  Consistently.

Anyways, this weekend will be a treat.  A clash of styles which will make for some exciting football.

Hmm. That's sort of like:
Two St. John's players, standing on opposite sides of the river. One yells to the other "how do I get to the other side?"
The other Johnnie yells back "you are on the other side"

The rumor is.... if the Johnnies go all the way, everyone on this board will get a "Tramp Stamp" tattoo .... has anyone picked out the design yet? Just curious.....
