To the surprise of absolutely no one, Jackson Erdmann is a finalist for the Gagliardi.

Looks like it could come down to him and Broc Rutter.

I'm glad that Zimbelman from Aurora made the finalist list. He's my early pick for next year and dark horse for this year.

How different will St John's offense look next season without Jackson? I hope his replacement is talented enough to get the ball to our talented receivers! That season opener against Aurora will be a real test!

He probably knows...

By he I assume you are talking about the UMU tweeter that complains "of course a Johnnie gets it" every time you tweet anything about the award?  Never mind that a Raider has gotten the award 7 times to SJU's 4.  ::)

Since the Gagliardi started in 1993, Mount Union has won 13 titles to 1 for St John's so Mount's edge there doesn't seem too out of line.

I have no beef with Elliott or Erdmann winning the award and will refrain from opining on the other 2 SJU winners for lack of knowledge.

Pretty sure I know who you are talking about but I muted the empty suit at least a year ago -- no, there's a poster on the OAC board who is a Mount Union booster, who was also listed as a legal contact in Fulford's case in 2017, who also threatened me over the phone about it. He occasionally posts only to tell us how great Fulford is and there are typically a couple of Mount Union fans who just plain disagree, and are willing to post about it.

Women's soccer is at least a sport that is played in Minnesota high schools.  Rowing is the obvious Title IX addition.  They have to recruit by walking around campus looking for reasonably athletic girls with free time.  The other big equalizer that schools use is creating giant women's track and cross country teams.  There are many running events that don't limit the number of athletes you can have compete.

Curiously, SCSU adding men's soccer is interesting because they are the only D1 or D2 men's soccer in the upper midwest other than Upper Iowa.  They didn't add a sport just to increase travel costs substantially.

Presumably, SCSU will play nonscholarship men's soccer against MIAC opponents-- maybe replacing UST?-- and just serve as a D2 independent.

With SCSU, there will be a grand total of 5 D2 mens soccer programs in the 5 state area, 1 from each state.  Currently, all 4 of those other teams compete in different conferences, none of which are a logical fit for SCSU.

Pat Coleman and whoever else

I think we have 5 great candidates for The Gagliardi! People have to remember the award is not just for athletic achievement. Fulford has that, but maybe not the other requirements.
Hey, I love Mount Union, my alma mater. But these other guys are great too!
Dlllfootball.com and the J-Club do a superb job every year. 👍 🏆

MUC57 and any other MU fans, my previous comments were not a dig at MU at all, I just tire of the implication that a Johnnie would have an inside track on the award.  To say that takes away from the stellar on-field and off-field accomplishments of these young men.  Much like every year, the finalists this year are all amazing.

A tradition unrivaled...
MIAC Champions: '32, '35, '36, '38, '53, '62, '63, '65, '71, '74, '75, '76, '77, '79, '82, '85, '89, '91, '93, '94, '95, '96, '98, '99, '01, '02, '03, '05, '06, '08, '09, '14, '18, '19, '21, '22, '24
National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

I know you better than to think you made a dig at ANYBODY! The history of the Gagliardi clearly shows NO ONE has the inside track.
As I posted earlier, these are 5 outstanding athlete/gentlemen/students, all of whom would be worthy of the award!
Having said all that, Go Johnnies! 🏈 🎓 👍

I think you don't know good ol' Duff as well as you think you do MUC. Although (perhaps much to his chagrin) he is one of the more reasonable and gentle Johnnies.
