Bizarrely two straight Johnnie seasons end with Jackson throwing a pick. More strangely, both passes were absolutely on the mark strikes! Last year at goal line vs. UMHB. Just one of those things. Or two of those things, I suppose. Gonna miss watching him operate; not just the results, but just the way he could sling it short, sideline and especially those deep balls. What a joy to watch for four years.

Hear, hear.  The AirJohnnie show has been spectacular.  I've really enjoyed this year.  A heart ache to lose but an inspiration from the players.  They gave it their all.

Thanks for everything, Johnnies, and I hope the pain of being so close fades soon and that you can enjoy the memories of a spectacular team.

Great game and great season SJU.
In my opinion, there is no question the Johnnies are a Stagg Bowl team.
It just happens that 2019 has three Stagg Bowl quality teams.

Four of 'em, not three. Wheaton beat North Central pretty decisively earlier this year, and the Wheaton vs. SJU game was essentially decided on a bonehead celebration penalty that bollixed up the decisive PAT attempt.

Nice way to toss that senior under the bus.  The guy can hardly stand up before another Wheaton supporter backs the truck over him again.

With all due respect to Mr. Sager's understanding of PATs, but without the penalty Wheaton could have kicked a TYING extra point....they would not have won the game with extra point (would have forced OT).  And before Sager jumps on here and pontificates about going for 2 and the win, I would encourage him to watch the Wheaton post game presser where Coach Swider clearly states that was never the plan.

Great season by our Johnnies!

Just stay out of the MIAC board, dude.  Your know-it-all-ness isn't appreciated here.

Sometimes Sager, you need to shut down. Yes Pat has given you some authority on his website but good grief don't get drunk on it.

What the heck are you on about?

Did I say it would?

No, I didn't. I said it was decisive. It would've forced overtime, but because it was missed Wheaton lost in regulation.

Hence, "decisive".

Nice try at putting words in my mouth that I never would've said. I watched Wheaton's postgame interview, too, and I heard what Swider said.

Imagine! Here I am wishing we could get Erdmann a fifth-year of playing time and this whole time we had Blake playing in his 20th season.

So you're not a Wheaton supporter?  I didn't realise you just enjoyed kicking a kid when he was down.  I guess that's... better?

EDIT: But congratulations on coming here and highjacking our thread not an hour after we finish in the semi's.  It's much appreciated.  I mean, far be it that we enjoy and celebrate our team.  No, much better we spend our time after the victory kicking on Wheaton and watching you high-step around the place.  Top quality contributions to the MIAC thread on the national semi's day.  Great work.

I remember Ramler's quotes after a devastating 1996 loss to LaCrosse in playoffs. Johnnies were up 30-8 and lost. I and most of us other than Duff, Rube and some others never got to actually experience playing for Johnnies, but I think his quotes sort of sum up what "Johnnie Magic" really is. Not about crazy TDs or lucky fumbles or things like that. (non-Johnnies, sorry for making you read the sentimental Johnnie stuff but did just find it and wanted to share with fellow Johnnies!)

"We all thought we were going to win, even on that last play. But there's nowhere else I'd want to play than St. John's. We have a magical, mystical thing going here. Anyone who's ever played for St. John's will understand what I'm talking about; those who haven't, never will."

Sager, your name on this board is mud. Stop making it worse.

I don't take kindly to being told what to do. I haven't done anything to you. Get off of my back.
