Holding out hope that Erdmann's name will be called a second time as the Gagliardi Trophy winner! I suppose it hurts that Rutter has also had a great season & his team is playing for it all.

Rutter just announced as the winner in closest vote in Gagliardi history. Testament to both guys. Should be a co-winner.

Lamker takes over the Auggie program.  I think this will help the program.  College is a different game, but he had success at Osseo and Edina.  He's an offensive guy so if he can bring in a solid DC they might build up respect.
This is great news for all of the MIAC and especially all of us Auggies!!! I was holding on to this as a possibility and fantastic news it is! Lamker was the clear leader of the 1997 MIAC champion Augsburg team and hopefully he is able to bring on his teammate Scott Hvistendahl as an assistant coach and whomever he has in mind for his staff. Derrin Lamker is a quality coach and leader and I trust he will do great things at Augsburg and build a football program. I have not been this excited for Auggie football in several years. Congrats Coach Lamker!

Starting to look like Mount Union might be the #2 team if UWW continues to sit on the egg.

I'm guessing the Jays would have matched up better Vs. NCC than UWW. Taking nothing away from UWW they deserve to be there, but sometimes you just don't match-up well against certain teams.

Congrats to Rutter on the Gagliardi trophy.  Obviously, I'd have liked to have seen Jackson win it again, but Rutter is definitely a great winner!

After that football game tonight, all red and white eyes tune
into McMinnville for the historic basketball WILDCAT - Johnnie game.

Hoops game is on now. 41-36 SJU with 16 mins left.

Johnnies beat Linfield... Nothing new there.

I believe I read Veldman is returning for GAC.  He had a redshirt year at NDSU.

He was at NDSU in 2015.  According to stats, he played in 3 games in 2016, 6 games in 2017, and 10 games in 2018 and 2019.  If he were injured in 2016, I guess it's possible that he could have a redshirt...

No way!  I swear he's been there 6 years already.
He;s only 4 seasons behind Keating for the MIAC career-length record :)

I haven't seen North Central play until today (Stagg Bowl). As an avid Gopher fan, their very good RPO offense looks familiar. Top notch QB and receivers with an big aggressive o-line...that o-line is really impressive.

No offense to Whitewater, but their run heavy offense just wasn't a good match up once North Central got rolling. It sure would have been fun to see Erdmann and the Johnnies match up with North Central - they might have been able to score. I'm curious how Wheaton beat North Central.

I had not seen NCC before either but I'm happy I did. They are really good. No question, they are the real deal. It appears they have been building for a while. I'm guessing they're going to be around for a while. Congrats to them.

Wheaton was able to get more pressure on Rutter than they did on Erdmann and did a really good job containing Greenfield's running game (he still ran for 111 yards, but on 29 carries).  Wheaton did a pretty good job running the ball (because their #1 running back was healthy) and their #1 receiver (Nichols) got loose for over 200 yds and 3 TDs. Wheaton even missed two fairly easy field goals that game, which Wheaton would've won by 20.  And they didn't turn the ball over. Whereas Nichols only had 88 yards against SJU and Wheaton turned the ball over 2x against SJU.

Also, Wheaton was quite banged up by the end of the year.  Their best O-Lineman got injured the last regular-season game and out for the season, their 2nd string QB who is 6-6 and 235lbs (who gets about 15-20 touches each game, partly running the wildcat) injured his knee with an ACL two games after the NC game, their 3rd string QB had a concussion, their all-conference SAM linebacker got injured with an ACL during the season, and two of their three best RB's were injured, although one of them, #32 was playing at about 60 to 70% with an injured ankle.  He was running gingerly on his ankle without doing his normal jumpcuts.  He's also a big threat as a receiver because of his legit 4.4 40 speed.   Injuries are no excuse for losing, but having everyone at the beginning of the season does make a difference and made Wheaton more dangerous, especially on offense.

No question, injuries (or the lack thereof) are a huge factor in winning out the last five games in a 16 game season.

That was my thought as they scored the last TD.  ;D

I was glad to see Rutter get the record.
