New OC for the Cobbers.

Will 2020 be the year that the Cobbers discover the forward pass?

(doubtful)

SJU had better hope something changes enough to derail that juggernaut!  ;)

The Johnnies found a functional kicker in the library and word out of Collegeville is that efforts are being made to actually recruit specialists (K-P-LS) so we got that going for us...... which is nice  8-)

I don't believe the few of us BU backers mentioned this, but freshman Bjorn Larson handling kicking for Bethel was a huge relief this year, going 43/44 on PAT's.  Only 2/5 on FG's, but he's a freshman, so hopefully that can improve.

BU had far too many years where the PAT was more often than not a mis-adventure.

From what I've been seeing on Twitter, SJU's Ben Bartch is performing well at practices for  the Reese's Senior Bowl.

QuoteI think we can officially drop the level of competition concerns with St. John's (MN) OL Ben Bartch.  More than held his own at left tackle against top SEC pass rushers like Terrell Lewis of Alabama and Jabari Zuniga of Florida in the first Senior Bowl practice.

QuoteBEN BARTCH (St John's) was IMO the best offensive lineman on the South Team at Tuesday's @seniorbowl practice.  Poised, technical and smooth.  Proud of him as we trained together ... and no, that's not the reason for my high opinion of his his performance.

Love seeing the DIII guys doing well when given the chance!

For sure!  Bethel has had many years of kicking struggles, but they finally got a good one (though in fairness, I didn't get to see him kick a PAT or FG this past season :P).

Indeed!  I always find myself pulling for them when they have a chance at the next level.

When was the last time a D3 O-lineman was on an active roster?  We tend to hear more about the skills players, when it comes to TV coverage...

Ali Marpet out of Hobart has started all 72 games of his career so far.

Hobart grad Ali Marpet is doing very, very well. Started at center and now a left guard. He is a team captain with the Bucs and under contract until 2023. Probably the top DIII player currently in the NFL.

I saw Cuomoro (sp?) from Whitewater catch a pass in the losing effort against San Fran.

Jake Kumerow. And yeah, he's played in 19 games for the Packers over the last 2 years. 20 receptions for 300+ yards. Definitely a role player, which is a massive achievement on its own. But hard to compare to the career of a team captain who hasn't missed a game and is one of the highest paid guards in the game.

I mean, Alex Tanney has been in the league for almost a decade as a second/third string qb mostly, though he's seen some time on the field including this season for the Giants. That's an incredible achievement. But it's not really going to compare to guys that are day in and out starters.

Actually you did. He made a 33ish yd FG this year, but there was a false start, so they backed them up and he missed the 38 yarder.

Ali Marpet has been playing for 4-5 years at pro-bowl level for the Bucs. He's their best lineman by far

I'm watching Bartch on ESPNU now.  He's doing well.
