Many, if not all, of the mock drafts were compiled prior to the Senior Bowl. I believe Marpet was a 3rd rounder. I wouldn't expect any higher for Bartch. That being said, getting drafted is a tribute to his hard work and good coaching

Marpet is a recent enough hidden gem that I think it helps Barch. They were both AA guys with great athleticism and good power. They both also balled out at the Senior Bowl and helped put to rest concerns about how they'd matchup against top flight competition. And because it's the NFL, they also both have all the measurables they're looking for.

In Barch's favor - Tackle is always in higher demand and get drafter earlier than guard/center, where Ali was projected (and now plays). On the flip side, it's a tougher position and so the bust risk is greater. I think he's a solid 2nd to 3rd rd pick, pending how his pro day and combine numbers shake out. At that point, he'll have every opportunity to make a career in the NFL. He won't be camp cannon fodder and the organization that drafts him will put resources towards his development.

I could definitely see Bartch ending up in a Patriots uniform. If Belicheck likes what I see's in terms of talent he hasn't typically concerned himself about what level a guy has played at or even what position he plays. I'm sure he is on the radar of the Seattle front office as well too, with a Tommie running the show and a Johnnie running player personnel.

Mr.MIAC

I just heard that the UST move to D1 is pretty much a done deal. We're actively fundraising for the athletic department. Any folks here want to get onboard with the winning team?

Oh? Yeah I am already on board with the winning D1 football team in MN. Ski-U-Mah and Row the Boat!

Cheers for Wisconsin.  A guy who jumped into a Milwaukee river to pull a bulldog to safety made the news as the happy news story transition from international to local stories.

Look like SJU might have poked the singin' Oles hornets nest.

Olaf opened its fancy ice palace last night and the Jays blanked them.

That was their grand opening? I checked out the last 5 minutes as I've been home with the flu since Wednesday. There sure were plenty of empty seats. Also Ole got a little chippy with a bush league charging penalty down 2-0 w 9 seconds to go.

I read that tweet wrong, apologies. This old man should not post after 10! It was SJU's first game there. But it has to be tough when you finally put so many chips into a program and the big hire coach bolts. three wins in 19 games.

Another Bartch interview, this one from the Bengals.  If well-manered-and-cured-in-Minnesota is a draft criteria then he's a first rounder.

He did a nice job in this interview. I didn't realize that he didn't get the chance to play in the game due to injury. That more than likely will hurt him more than help. Many of these Big10/SEC/ACC guys play at two different speeds (not necessarily consciously either) practice speed and game speed. Good NFL lineman are hard to come by though. Obviously, the Vikings would be well suited to snap him up in the 3rd/4th round. Lord knows they need help in the O-line. Plus it would be nice to see him in Purple!

General rule of thumb for Olineman, and WR's/DB's at the Senior Bowl is that practice reps are much more valuable than the game. Reason being, for Oline for instance, the drills are much more difficult to excel in than a game situation where you have a guard or TE blocking and RB behind you. The reps are just straight solo vs a Dlineman ... major advantage to the Dline in these instances.

Conversely, the RB's practice reps are regarded as very low value, vs. seeing what they do in the game.

Bartch looks good I am happy that he is in the mix to be drafted, I wish him well...there is no doubt he will go in the first 5 rounds...

IMHO if Bartch were NFL material, Oregon would have snapped him up.

IMHO if Bartch were not NFL material, he would not have even been invited to the Senior Bowl.
