IMHO if Bartch were NFL material, Oregon would have snapped him up.

IMHO if Bartch were not NFL material, he would not have even been invited to the Senior Bowl.

Great take.  Well thought out, defended, etc.  Bravo.  :D

By that logic, there would be no D3 players in the NFL, as they would've been snapped up by the local D1.

Another Bartch interview, this one from the Bengals.  If well-manered-and-cured-in-Minnesota is a draft criteria then he's a first rounder.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGbikpCoIHI

He did a nice job in this interview. I didn't realize that he didn't get the chance to play in the game due to injury. That more than likely will hurt him more than help. Many of these Big10/SEC/ACC guys play at two different speeds (not necessarily consciously either) practice speed and game speed. Good NFL lineman are hard to come by though. Obviously, the Vikings would be well suited to snap him up in the 3rd/4th round. Lord knows they need help in the O-line. Plus it would be nice to see him in Purple!

General rule of thumb for Olineman, and WR's/DB's at the Senior Bowl is that practice reps are much more valuable than the game. Reason being, for Oline for instance, the drills are much more difficult to excel in than a game situation where you have a guard or TE blocking and RB behind you. The reps are just straight solo vs a Dlineman ... major advantage to the Dline in these instances.

Conversely, the RB's practice reps are regarded as very low value, vs. seeing what they do in the game.

That's a reasonable way to view it, especially regarding the RB's. The only, caution I would state is that in a game the O-linemen have a lot more things/keys/reads to think about, while for the most part the drill and the game stays the same for D-linemen.

I watched a fair amount of the practices on the tube, and it's hard to imagine they were going half-speed if you would have seen the coach chewing on them during the work outs.  He seemed pretty damn serious about hitting it hard, the coach that is. Nobody looked like they were playing at "practice" speed.  I've also read that the practices are "more" important, in fact, many of the teams send their scouts home before the game starts.

True. A large share of the credentials the Senior Bowl gives out are for practices only, recognizing that a lot of NFL teams cut their crews down before the game.

Excellent troll. Multiple bites. If you could fish real fish that well then you could give up your day job and live off the land.  Or water as it were.

I read somewhere that the rules for the game included no pulls, stunts or blitzes. It was essentially straight man-on-man at the line for both passing and rushing. That’s why I was stunned when looking at the highlights and didn’t see a single snap with Bartch (I quickly hit google and found he had been “injured” late on Thursday. I say “injured” because maybe his people thought he had done everything he needed in practice and there was no reason to risk real injury in the game.  I love a good conspiracy). The three left side OT’s who played for South were beaten for four sacks in the first half and another in the second half plus two interceptions were caused by pressure from guys that beat the left OT.  I don’t see how any of those OTs on the south team get picked besides Bartch actually.  His not being out there makes him look like the only guy who could play the position in comparison.

I reckon he’s virtually guaranteed to go in the third round when many teams are looking to fill out their lineman ranks.  Perhaps he’s an very outside chance at a second round pick if there’s a team that specifically needs OT talent and they think he’s got the best shot.

This article says something flattering so it must be correct.

Small-school blocker Ben Bartch of St John's-Minnesota came away a big winner as well. Though there were a few bumps in the road during the week, Bartch held up well, showed good strength and blocked with proper fundamentals. Right now, several teams grade Bartch as a top-100 selection.

As does this article.  Also obvious genius.

Bartch may also have some late Day 2 potential after showing his impressive level of competition during his work in Mobile. He had a lot of love from draft analysts and people who focus on offensive line play. He looks like he's going to be a good one.

If Brett Elliot had been D1 material, he wouldn't have lost his job at Utah  ;D  ::)

Not me. I only ding your karma when you have a bad take. Now that it's the offseason that's only a couple times a week, not everyday.

HaHa, paranoia will destroy ya. Your imagination will now have everyone on MIAC football dreaming that their karma has been pinged every day. But at least your boredom to stir a sh*tpot has gotten me blitzed with negative karma this morning, so good job you. Is it possible that it was a crappy posting or two that got you pinged by many and not just one individual? Maybe.
