My deepest sympathy to all you Johnnies on the loss of some of your favorite watering holes. It must have felt like part of you died.

But do the pubs really cease to exist? Don't they live forever in our hearts? Can we not still smell the beer we spilled on our shirts?  Can't we still hea the voices of the coeds, or whoever , resonating in the stillness of the night? Don't you recall the next morning when school didn't seem to really matter? Yes, Virginia, there really were places of happiness, forgetfulness and, oh yes, regret!
And they live on today, in a different place, with a different name.l

I wonder if UST's move to D1 will have an impact on St. Ben's recruiting. All those Catholic girls who want to date a football player will now have in close proximity the option of courting a D1 player. The draw to Cretin and Summit is already strong. This might make it irresistible. On the plus side, the fact that a good portion of the Bennies are immobile might help St. Ben's with retention.

We had a substitute teacher today that told me he played for Bemidji State in 1963 and lost to Gagliardi's eventual NAIA champion SJU 6-0. He said his coach wasn't all too pleased with all the attention Gagliardi received. If my calculations are correct the fella must be over 76 years old. Hope to meet him again one day!

Contrary to popular belief, neither MUC57 or 57Johnnie were there when the first keg was tapped.
