Maybe faunch can just sell his house to UST and convince all his neighbors to do the same so we can build a nice athletics village there. I assume since he chose to live so close to campus, it was a long-term developer play to get a big payday to sell out to Big Bad Purple.

Excellent long play by Faunch!

Right? If it's true, it's the kind of brilliant move that makes me suspect he went back and secretly got an MBA from UST.

Iowa Board of Regents directs 3 state schools to prepare for online courses after spring break.

Interesting.  I'm curious how MN schools will respond once it becomes more widespread.  Have you heard any rumors of how your district will handle it?

TV news from here in western Colorado:
Puget Sound and PLU have gone to 'virtual classes' but athletic practices and events are still scheduled at least for now.
Colorado College has cancelled all in-person classes. No word about athletics.

The district I work in is said to be making plans to go online however I've not been involved in anything. All of  our students have chromebooks however I'm not sure they all have reliable internet. Also a number of classes like woodworking, art, phy ed, and culinary might prove difficult to teach online.
I've heard Wayzata is preparing to do 4 weeks on online learning.

Just received an email that U of Iowa is going online from March 23-April 3 (minimum).
I know I'm always a little anxious but I've got a bad vibe about this thing and that the genie might already be out of the bottle.

Well, looking at how it's developed overseas, I think it's grandma and grandpa who have the most to be concerned about. With no vaccination yet I'm encouraging my folks to be extra careful and avoid public gatherings as much as possible.

Yesterday the governor here said to expect all schools to close/go online soon.  This graph was published by some state health authority on their goal for the spread:

They are worried about ICU's getting overwhelmed.  A little trickier here is that we just exited summer and are about to enter winter. Flu season is just about to get underway.  Anyhows.  Must get more toilet paper.

More from the "Mount Union guy"

Friday's Sweet 16 basketball game with Wittenberg at Mount Union will have limited fans. Only ones admitted will be players, officials, parents of players, members of the media and a few University personnel.
Mount is on spring break this week, however; classes have been cancelled for next Monday and Tuesday. Classes on Wednesday are to be only when there is no face-to-face environment. Sounds like on-line classes are requested (required?).
Just thought I'd add a little midwestern perspective, FWIW. Stay safe everyone.  8-)

Let me say stay well to everyone on the boards and to not treat a sore throat, cough or runny nose lightly, especially if you're more prone to pneumonia.  I bet that a vaccine for this is created by July or August (apparently a few are starting human trials in the next couple weeks) so you just need to go hermit for a few months and this will pass.

Production and an efficient supply chain of that vaccine in the midst of a pandemic will be a real challenge

I bet refunds for the Johnnie/Tommie basketball game are sent out and it ends up limited to just athletes, staff and parents.  The liability is too high if they pack that gym and someone has CV.  Bummer.  I don't even like watching basketball but I was going to enjoy watching that one with the atmosphere.

Penn State, where #1 is on exchange for a semester and currently spring breaking in New York City, has just closed campus and told all students to return home.  All classes will be online.  We don't know what that means for #1 yet and whether she has to fly back to Aus or if they will give her accomodation to finish the semester at PSU.  But it looks like everything is going maximum "social distancing".  I bet the MIAC soon does the same.
