A great interview from KFAN of the president of the Mayo Clinic Labs.  Leave it to a sports journalist to get the most informative interview out there.

Completely moved my SJU freshman home tonight, dorm room completely empty and turned in the key.  Lots of sad faces at SJU.

Are they going with online classes?

Yes, until April 15th is the hope, but that only leaves 3 weeks left of the semester.  I think that is why they implemented cleaning out the dorms.

Well, exams will be pretty hard to facilitate remotely so I hope that the students can come back together again in a month.  Being bored stiff with nothing to do but watch online lectures and do homework, this may be the most academic semester in college America for decades.  Or longer even.

That was a solid interview.  I found it quite calming.  The Ticket in Dallas had a great one with the Chief Epidemiologist at Methodist which partners with the Mayo Clinic.  It was very informative and stressed remaining calm.  He seemed to think that in Texas with the summer heat coming we could see a drop off in cases starting fairly soon.  He was also asked by two hosts that love bathroom humor if this disease causes hell from the bottom (cleaned up some for posting) to which he responded no.

I was told to work from home for the next 2 weeks.  My coursework is online and to keep from having to do exams our professor assigns essays.  I was out of groceries so I had to make a run.  People have lost their minds.  They are stocking up on some weirdest stuff imaginable.  I am reminded of the  'gas shortage' from Hurricane Harvey we had about 2 years ago.  I knew I was low on some supplies, and I could not find them anywhere.  I started to panic.  Only when I got home and actually did an inventory did I start to breathe.

This is starting to remind me of several other viral diseases over the last few years.  This one everyone just happened to hit the panic button in ways I haven't seen in some time.  Unfortunately being sent home late Friday and the travel ban having been extended to the UK I can't go get injected with the virus for medical testing.  I was planning on using that money for an Argentina dove hunt.

Good listen.
Stressing the point to not over run health care facilities if you don't have symptoms. Advice that should have been given in the toilet paper aisle earlier this week. Remain calm.

Rumor is that SJU dorms were emptied to serve as a secondary place to bring patients if the SC Hospital becomes overwhelmed.

Ohio governor orders all restaurants and bars closed until further notice. All closed at 9:00 PM tonight.
Carry out will be allowed but no sit down inside.
Maybe now would be a good time to visit Minnesota. You guys could show me some of the campuses and we could tour some of the pubs.
I can't believe all restaurants and bars closed indefinitely. Who would have thunk it?
Just thought I'd share my misery with all my friends on this board. The OAC board is dead. ☠ ⚰ 💔

All Masses were canceled this weekend as well as our Friday fish fry (until further notice).
Recreation center is closed until at least 3/30 so no workouts for me.
No reported cases of the virus in my county so far.
This too shall pass. I'm not in charge.  :)

No church around here cancelled any masses. My priest said he refused, stating people need their church. However; attendance was down, at my mass, by 20 - 30 %. Those numbers are a guess, but probably pretty close.
My county (Stark) has 2 known cases. The state has 36- at last count. All schools, K - 12, are closed for the year. Mount Union classes are closed till at least April 6.
Hey, I just remembered. Golden, Colorado, home of Coors beer. Ah, "to sleep, perchance to dream"! (Did I do that right?)
Stay safe my friend. 🍺❗️

This post was updated to reflect 36 cases in Ohio.

I wonder what the CV means for the draft and Bartch.  Certainly the pro day at the U of M will be cancelled or postponed?  When even is the draft?

Wow.   Things sure have changed quickly.

Since this board has so many Catholic schools, and therefore, Catholics, this might be of interest. Ohio's bishops have cancelled all masses through Easter Sunday. I wish they hadn't but I understand
the rationale.

And Ohio is in court right now attempting to change tomorrow's primary election to June 2.

What a mess and confusion because of this damn coronavirus.  :-[

Man.  Well Washington needs to get to work on some sort of financial system change - maybe FDIC for mortgage debt or something like that - that will enable the banks to be more flexible with their capital requirements so they can better absorb the slowdown and hopefully provide some greater capacity for missed or minimised debt repayments.

It was interesting.  I saw a list from the CDC on the priorities for vaccination distribution.  First, the military and police, etc. Second, healthcare workers.  Third, finance industry.  Fourth, critical manufacturing and food supply (like supermarkets).  Last, the regular Joes.

The armchair quarterbacking merchants of doom are working overtime ramping up tension about this.  And although obviously serious and consequential beyond any previous expectation, I reckon the US will work its way through this best.  I would hate to be in Europe, that's for sure.  It's running out of control there and they are playing catch-up.  At least the US (and Aus although not to the same progressive degree) is acting before it gets crazy.  Minnesota has fewer than 40 cases my folks told me yesterday.  So these measures should surely slow down that spread.  Fingers crossed with extra prayers, that's for sure.

Up to 54 as of yesterday with 19 new. Although I am aware of a few suspected cases with relatively low risk folks where they have been told "You were likely exposed by [X person] and your symptoms suggest you have it but just self-quarantine for 3 weeks and we aren't going to test you unless you get to where you are on your death bed" so I think the #s of confirmed cases is concealing more information than what it reveals.
