Keep in mind the data that has come to light on the choir in Washington. 60 people had a choir practice March 9th. Within two weeks 45 were infected and two had died. The Champions League match in Bergamo and the Mardi Gras celebrations New Orleans are thought to be MAJOR contributors to where those two communities ended up 2-3 weeks later. The mode of transmission with COVID-19 might be the scariest part.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking there's a chance the Johnnies and Tommie$ have played their last 🏈 game against each other.

I know I'm an outsider but I hope you're wrong. Mount Union has no comparable rival (maybe John Carroll or Baldwin-Wallace is close). I personally enjoy following all the hype leading up to the SJ2 - U$T, oops, I mean SJU - UST game. Not sure there exists anything like it in football.
I hope you're wrong. 🏈 🍺 😷

I agree

I finished my last library book so started The Sweet Season as  I've mentioned before. Once again I am trying to figure out if Duffman was the player that told John that he had never kissed a girl.  :D

I reckon Johnnie/Tommie will be on. I'm a hopeless optimist. I reckon they'll have good treatments worked out for this viral pneumonia before too much longer.  Bacterial pneumonia has been under control for a long, long time now but viral pneumonia was far less common and almost exclusively caused by flu and other known viruses.  Now every clinical pharmacologist and his or her dog is looking at this problem. We'll have treatments before summer is out and vaccines by next flu season.

As I say, I'm an optimist. Roll on Johnnie/Tommie 2020. It's going to be a classic.

i have to wonder if things are still so dire that fall 2020 sports are cancelled the Tommies move to D1 will be delayed by a year.  Would not give them much time to prepare for such a big move by 2021.

I wonder if the 2020 football season is cancelled Erdmann and Bartsch can get another year of eligibility?

One of the 99 clinical trials underway testing existing drugs to fight against the 'Rona' Virus is with Sildenafil. Yep, Viagra. The failed heart drug that turned into a sexual enhancer could do another 180, and help in the fight against COVID-19. The good news is one should know pretty early on if they are taking the placebo sugar pill or the actual trial drug  ;D

Ha!  Those volunteers are doing a stand up job.

I thought we could start a series called something like "Scenes from the Apocalypse".  A few photos or such to share and help us all stay in touch a little better.

This here is the Oz family dog, Tess, lying on the deck wondering why if we're home all day we cannot go to the park all day and chase the ball.

(If anyone has a photo they want to share but don't know how to post one, please feel free to email it to me and I'll send you a link that you can then post)

800+ Americans died today from a disease most of us don't have immunity to and Donald Trump is still President!

Wondering, if the sports seasons are canceled...Do they give the athletes a pass on eligibility?

The other issue. They were planning to give all winter and spring athletes another year of eligibility as I understand things. But if things are canceled in fall/winter, that won't help Sr's from winter sports. It's one thing to try to stretch it out to play an extra year. But if they cancel 2020-2021 Winter sports, this years Sr's are basically done.

On similar note, reading a biography of Joe DiMaggio right now. He and a whole bunch of other players lost a chunk of their careers to WWII. It's a bummer, but also a reminder that some things are bigger than sports.

That said, I sure hope they can figure out a way to play come fall ... if for no other reason than our society can probably only sustain so much exposure to documentaries like Tiger King. With no sports, our descent into even worse forms of reality TV and documentaries is all but inevitable. We may never recover  ;)

jknezek

At least in D1, they only gave Spring sports an extra year of eligibility. The Winter sports were not given another year.

Pat Coleman

A season which is never played triggers no eligibility loss. (Although, there would have to be some sort of accommodation on the 10 semesters part.)

Johnnie57 has been soaking up beautiful blue mountain air while staying at home with She Who Must Be Obeyed.  Nice rocking chairs on the front porch.  Norman Rockwell himself couldn't have picked a better set.  ;D

Yeah!  ^^^^^^^^^^^^.

Better 57Johnnies house as a Norman Rockwell than mine. Mine would most likely resemble a Salvador Dali.
But at least I have my health. Well, a little less right now, but still!

The thing I am missing most is the recreation center which has been closed for a month. I go there 4 days a week at 5:30 AM mess with cardio machines mostly but a little weight machines (no free weights for sure). Turns out it is a social as well as fitness event. The fitness area I go to is for adults only but they let me in anyway (with adult supervision of course).  :D
