Mr Roboto, hands down.

Styx killed a career as a result.

Caz Bombers

anything by Train, Maroon 5 or Imagine Dragons, but if the category is "one song playing on repeat for eternity when I get to hell" I know it will be "The Reason" by Hoobastank.

I could never listen very long to anything by the Sex Pistols - just not my cup of tea.

As to career killers there is no contest.  Billy Squier, a good rocker, destroyed a hard rocking career and a good tune in four minutes and 59 seconds of video.  I present Rock Me Tonight (which I believe we discussed here a few years ago).  The horror.

You kill me art76! I don't think the Sex Pistols were ever anyone's "cup of tea."

Large safety pins in the cheek yes, fights in the pit for sure. But nothing of the tea variety.

Some fine competition the posters are putting out there of the trash music they love to hate. Some I had forgotten about and am now doomed to repeat them in my memory for awhile.

Submissions remain open.

If the competition is "name the worst rock song of all time," I'm coming at you with "We Built This City" by Starship every time.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K1b8AhIsSYQ

Terrible song with terrible lyrics backed up by a terrible video. Let's see someone take on the challenge.

"Sussudio", Phil Collins (1985) No one will ever convince me otherwise. It's absolute garbage. The last 2 verses...

"Just say the word
Just, just, just say the word
Ooh hoo just say the word
Su-Su-Sussudio
Su-Sussudio
Ah Su-Sussudio
Su-Sussudio
Sudio
Su-Sussudio
Just say the word
Su-Sussudio
Say the word oh
Just say the word
Just, just, just say the word"

If that doesn't make your brain bleed I don't know what will.

"But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite." -- Patrick Bateman

I don't think this can be beat.  Not only does the song suck, the band that sucked it had opened with White Rabbit 20 years earlier.  I don't think the world has witnessed a more tragic decline outside of watching a someone brought low by drug addiction.

As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

If I may jump in

Did not recognize any of the groups that were named. (I'm old)

What about Brian's Song by Perry Como? (I just want to be part of the discussion)  ::)  ;D
I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Maybe I do have a suggestion.  The worst popular rock song I ever heard was on the radio here when I arrived in Australia.  Horror Movie by the Skyhooks.  It's pure s*** and I can't explain how this became popular anywhere in the world, even on a continent entirely populated with criminals.

A Perry Como entry. Didn't see that one coming.
I think I have his "Live at Filmore East" double album around here somewhere.

I don't know Oz, I liked this.

Then again the first concert I ever saw was Alice Cooper in the Minneapolis Armory.  $6 General Admission.

No way Jose! That's some great 70s bubblegum pop right there.  ;D
My vote is for "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans. My hand can't reach for the off button fast enough when it comes on the radio.

So weird that the wife and I were just reminiscing tonight about the 60s music that our parents listened to (KOOL 108 for us), and I said, "remember that 2525 song?". I pulled it up on Spotify, and it's as bad as I remember.

A tradition unrivaled...
