Through my Agent OzJohnnie (OZJ) I have informed the National Football League (NFL) that I have made myself (BDB) available in tonights NFL Draft.

With the Cincinnati Bengals (CB) having the 1st overall pick, I believe my skills at Quarterback (QB), Running Back (RB), Linebacker (LB) and Cornerback (CB) will have me off campus of Lay-Z-Boy University (LZB) and jetting to my new team and signing bonus of one billion cash ($1B).

So when you are watching tonight, whether it be on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) or the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network (ESPN) you should see my pick look like this:

1st Round 1st Pick

Team :    CB
Player:     BDB
School:    LZB
Position:  QB, RB, LB, CB
Bonus:    1B
Degree: GED

I gots skills to make Bills, baby!  Oz, you did send that letter to the NFL, didn't you?   ???    ;)

Another +k for you.

Well, they blew it.

CB took JB.

Hey, I'm Day 1 talent still avail.  Maybe Tampa Bay picks me and I rock with Tom Brady.

It works!  TB picks BDB to play with TB. It was meant to "B".   ;D

Anyone have any idea how many offensive linemen were selected last night and where Bartch might be sitting?

Wasn't that hard to find some info: ESPN has him as the #4 remaining OG (thought he was a tackle) and SI has him as the #87 best overall player remaining.

The draft tracker is pretty good.  https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/picks

It looks like six tackles were selected yesterday.   The prospect tracker has him as the 13th best tackle in the draft.

https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/T?college=allColleges&page=1&status=ALL&year=2020

So there's a chance he goes at the end of the second round and almost certainly in the third round.  Fingers crossed anyways.  I think they do two rounds tomorrow so with luck he'll hear his name before dinner time.

There were 6 players listed as OT taken last night. Bartch was listed as 20th best in the OL category by this ranking...

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospect-rankings/offensive-linemen/

So he would have a ways to go. I know OT and OL don't perfectly line up, but it does show a preference that will most likely back up Bartch as Isiah Wilson from Georgia was listed as 10th best OL but he was the last OT taken at 29.

Every player taken last night except Jordan Love came from a P5 school. Not hard when almost half came from the SEC alone. I think, because of the lack of pre-draft workouts, this will be a very hard year on the small school guys. There is more being done on game tape vs competition and less available on the breakout workout routines and the eyeballs that so many small school guys rely on to provide support for a lack of top tier competition tape.

Coaches got to try right? They are out jobs if they start cutting teams. If there is no football this fall, or severely reduced revenue from football, it's going to get ugly in those DI athletic departments.

My soon to be 16 year daughter texted it to me asking "is this true?" I gave her a similar answer that without football college sports are in trouble...especially non revenue. As a girl I'm there's concern about sports like volleyball...through club vb she know a number of girls going D1, D2 and D3 and may even have wishful thinking of playing after high school.

Yeah. It's a problem. Though women's sports will be sheltered by Title IX, which is Federal not NCAA, so they won't be cut unless men's sports are cut first in most athletic departments. I suspect schools will look for parity to try and avoid being sued on either side. So far ODU and Cincinnati have only cut men's sports but there is no relief from the requirements yet either and I don't know how hard up on the limits those schools are and I'm too lazy to find out.

My sources indicate that it was a tossup between BDB and Jordan Love for Brian Gutekunst, but BDB's inability to throw 17 interceptions a season sealed the deal for Love

Texas Ole

So much to reply to, and I need to be productive for work which is super busy.  I hope everyone is well.

I have a strong feeling that we will get back to normal before the fall.  St. Olaf has just hired 2 coaches.  The Navy AD says he expects to play Notre Lame in Dublin this year.  I actually think D3 schools for the most part are best equipped to handle the loss of athletics for a year.  If you are playing D3 you probably care more about your education than your sport.  That probably rings true with several other sports at all levels.  The schools that will suffer are those who rely on athletics to meet the bottom line.  Too many schools are funding athletic programs that lose money.  I think athletics will be played.  We will have this virus solved, or we will realize that it is life moving forward.  Over the years in Texas I have been I am going to die from countless other viruses such as swine flu (H1N1), West Nile, and others.  I am sorry to report that I am still here to drive some of you insane.  I think some of the schools wavering right now are looking for ways to drop sports.  Also D3 sports generally don't have programs that don't provide a profit.  I never understood this until a friend pointed out that every student pays tuition especially at the non-scholarship levels.  That money adds to the operating budget of schools.

As for the draft I first want to tell all you Vikings fans y'all have a great player in Gladney.  He is a prototypical TCU DB.  He is a smart sure tackler.  He understands leverage and how to read plays.  He knows to wrap up or grab something and gang tackle.  The TCU base defense is a 4-2-5 that morphs in to a 4-1-6 or 3-2-6.  That should help in the NFL.  TCU players tend to be some of the smartest football ones in the NFL especially with genius that is Gary Patterson.  Patterson is known as one of the few coaches that understands coaching defenses against the spread especially with DBs.  A fun note is that he often teaches it using principles of the old wishbone and triple option.  The concerns I have for him is I don't see him as shut down defensive back if he is on an island.  TCU is big on playing as a unit.  If you are interested in XOs I highly recommend reading some of the material on the TCU defense.
