QuoteIF there was adequate testing, my answer would probably be different, but there isn't.

Mr Ypsi, I'm curious if you have a definition in mind for the above?
At the pace testing capacity/availability/result speed is increasing in the US, by the time football rolls around "adequate testing" may be in place.

From a personal risk standpoint, i liken it to wearing a helmet on bicycles, wearing a live preserver on a boat, taking vitamin C, getting a flu shot, wearing a hat in the winter and all the other precautions we have the right to choose. I would choose for society to be open to those that are ok with the personal risk.

From an impact on others standpoint, I think choice exists for those that are vulnerable as well.

There will be situations where the vulnerable are infected by the "risk takers", but those numbers will be low, and then you enter into comparing the same risks the vulnerable have always had prior to COVID.

I'm curious about your definition of choice exists for those who are vulnerable. It seems like the option would be to stay shut in their house. Because the person who wears the bike helmet can't give a head injury to someone innocently shopping in a grocery store, but the football player with Covid-19 can pass it to that same person. So the vulnerable have very little options because the "personal risk" is considered so much more important than the risk to pass it to someone vulnerable.

I agree adequate testing will be in place by football season. I actually think a lot of this is hypothetical and have stood by the feeling that if students can live in dorms and eat in communal food halls, they can play football. BUT, I still don't see how someone can value the personal freedom to play college football, a non-necessity, entertainment option, versus the risk of transmitting the disease through society.

The very last things that should be opening are high transmission, low necessity situations. That is the definition of college football.

There should be room for disagreement without ad hominum attacks. Argue the issue not the person.

Would Mrs57's hairdresser come to Alliance, Ohio to work on my hair? Our salons are still closed and I'm looking worse  than usual. I need help!
Any consideration on her part would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your attention to this request.

We got a hair cutting kit a few weeks ago for my wife to do my hair, so now I'm rocking the full beard with a short haircut - might even buzz it before all is said and done as I'll likely be WFH until July now. My son comes back from 2 weeks in Iowa on Saturday and desperately needs a cut too. The haircutting kits were seriously backordered and unavailable so it took a few weeks for the delivery but it's paid for itself already.

Would you consider "leasing" your hair kit? Wait, does the kit have directions? I live alone and, with our stay-at-home in effect until May 29, I can't get someone to come to my house.
I never thought that, at age 84, I would wish I didn't have so much hair. Full head, long, thick and, of course, gray.
Oh well, since I have to stay home anyway, I'll wait until the salons open.i
In the meantime, Go Somebody! 🍺 🏈  😷

MUC - do you have a scissors? It might not look great, but at least it won't be in your eyes and there's no need to impress the ladies at this point!

Good points. Forgot about the scissors. And most of the ladies my age are dead anyway. No one to impress. (See signature below.)

To a reasonable degree- absolutely yes, the more vulnerable need to practice more isolation. There are literally billions of people taking one for the team now, to protect the more vulnerable. Now that we have a much better idea of who is most at risk of severe consequences, it may be time to switch it up.

Speaking of switching it up, do any of you fish up in Canada? That sure is a tough situation for the camp operators.

I was going to stay away (and will return to my hiatus) but the damndest thing happened today and I thought I would share it.  Melbourne has reopened.  Organically and all of a sudden today.

The state gov't did announce earlier this week that restaurants and bars would be re-opening on July 1 under restrictions yet to be drafted but said nothing about retail trade returning to work.  Stay at home and don't leave was the command.  But it seems that the rest of the world here said, "F*** it, this is getting old.  We're open for business, too.  You can't arrest us all."  Next weekend is Mother's Day and aside from Christmas this is one of the biggest gifting periods.  We just went down to the local shopping area to get some bread and were stunned to unexpectedly find at least 90% of the shops are open.  They all have signs saying 3 or 5 or so people in the store at a time and keep your distance (which people not being illiterate morons were doing).  Even the fine dining restaurants that were closed for months have suddenly opened for walk up take away.  #2 just told me that her friends who worked as retail sales assistants in local shops were all given a phone call to come back to work this week.  (#2 is a gymnastics coach and she'll remain unemployed until October, apparently, assuming the gym reopens.)

The suburbs have come to life all of a sudden and in a flash.  I'm sure the city will be a train wreck for a long time (shame because the city in Melbourne was extremely good for food and entertainment.  Very busy.)  Anyways, I have hope for you, America.

(It's an overcast early winter day in Melbourne today.  We're in for a very wet winter.)
