I would like, however, to give a shout out to Pat and Keith for their recent Podcast.  I finally had the time to listen to it and, while they always do an excellent job with those, I thought this one was one of their best ever.  The difficult and diverse topics regarding this current crisis and time of uncertainty affecting football and the educational aspects of DIII colleges/universities were covered by them and their guests extremely well.  So thanks for that Pat and Keith.  As you mentioned, none of us have any answers and while there are many uncertain potential scenarios being considered, at least we have all that to think about and discuss.

Apologies if this was noted earlier, but I saw SJU told its staff yesterday:

"Our goal is to open for fall semester with students on campus, while providing for the safety of our students, faculty and staff."

This article raising an interesting point.  Apparently football can't return to college unless all students do because college athletes are amateurs.   They must generally live in the same conditions as the regular student body to stay amateurs.  So no football unless school is back in session.  Hmmm...

The News Tribune says there was a powwow about two weeks ago where Minnesota colleges and universities planned a return to in-class schooling.  Detailed to be worked out but chairs spaced out, possibly in-room video, etc.  I'm a firm 90% chance that conference play will happen this year.  People want to get on with it.  0% chance that a national championship will happen.

Agree with you regarding all of us wanting/hoping to "get on with it." However, I will just share with you that it is not the sentiment i.e. no overwhelming opinion" here in our state right now regarding confidence that there will be a football season here.  The MIAA was having a virtual conference meeting today overseen by our commissioner with the ADs, HCs and some of their staff, the head athletic trainers and some of their staffs, and other administrators to discuss some initial potential scenarios and strategic plans.  Obviously, the next 6-8 weeks will determine this all across the country depending on the overall conditions regarding the virus crisis.  I believe, as I think most everyone does, that a decision of "go" or "no go" for NCAA football will have to be made by the end of June/first of July at the latest.  There is a ton of work and challenges to overcome before then and particularly at our DIII (and the DII) level.

That point was made clear to VP Pence by the presidents of D1's "Power 5" conferences when the veep asked if they could start the football season as scheduled. They added that remote or online classes doesn't cut it as far as school being "back in session." While they technically don't speak for the NCAA, the NCAA is generally very compliant in following their wishes/lead. Right now, id say its 50/50 if there will be a full football season this fall, but a lot can - and will- change in the next 3 to 4 months.

It's a labor law thing, not some general Power 5 whim.  The colleges lose their ability to treat the athletes as amateur revenue raisers (or, from the athletes' perspective they can claim employment privileges and protections, like collective bargaining) if the athletes live in substantially different conditions.  At least according to that article I shared.  Also, I'm not privy to vice presidential discussions and I'm wondering why you thought I should be.

Also, the MIAC doesn't need to hide behind the NCAA's skirt to play conference ball.  Championships?  They are obviously kaput this year as there is no money to play them.  Conference play, particularly in the MIAC, is easy and affordable.  Hence, the reason I suggest it's very likely to go ahead.

No, but Id imagine you might be privy to articles published on numerous sports and news sites and even in old-school print newspapers.  And I wasn't addressing you or even disagreeing with you, just sharing info with the board as a whole that expanded on your point that there wouldn't be football till students were in class .  Like I am doing with this link to an interview with NCAA top dog Mark Emmert, published today on CBS Sportsline:
