Wow.  Take Me Back Tuesday is the '63 championship game over Prairie View.

I'm going to sit down and enjoy this game on Saturday.  Play it on the big screen.

And Ben Bartch was named the Johnnie student-athlete of the year, which amazingly pales in comparison to that '63 game getting uploaded to YouTube.

Camellia Bowl 1963 in Sacramento for Championship.
Best football game this old Johnnie ever attended!
The one 40 years later may be as good but I wasn't there.  :)

Fun underscore to hear - Star Trek, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and MASH, to name a few.

That '63 game against Prairie View didn't start out well for SJU. First drive ends in a blocked punt. Prairie View scores TD on their first play after the recovery!

The highlights end with The Battle Hymn of the Republic playing in background...a little different from the more modern highlight reels.

Has anyone heard the rumors and innuendo about Macalester leaving the Midwest Conference for football? If that's true, will they go back to the MIAC or will they choose to be an affiliate with the UMAC? There's also rumors and innuendo that St. Scholastica joining the MIAC is imminent.

A couple of Johnnie classmates and I were on the sidelines. When we watched the Panthers warm up we all thought the Johnnies were in for a long, bad day. They had 9 players that went to the NFL. I don't specifically remember HOF Ken Houston but Jim Kearney and Otis Taylor were awesome. Turns out the Johnnies were a pretty good TEAM also.  :)

All you Johnnies

I love it when you guys put links to some of your old games in your posts. I look at most of them. I can feel the excitement almost as if I were there. I know you lead Dlll in attendance about every year. I can see why. Feels even more like a Saturday of football than many of the Mount Union games.
Keep putting links to some games.

If I weren't a Purple Raider, I would be very proud to be a Johnnie!

Be a Johnnie by proxy:
Head on over to the Muskellunge Brewery in Canton, sample the Tiger Musky Double IPA and give us a report!   :)   ;)

VOJ reporting the same.

Interesting-- likely to mean lots more nonconference games. There would be no need for a championship game if you were just playing all 9 conference teams otherwise.  How do you split the 10?  I assume they aren't "even" in strength, or the championship will be the same 2-3 teams every year.

My guess is there will be a lot of trips up and down I-94 between Collegeville and WIAC schools.

Starting in 2021-22, @SJUFootball's divisional opponents within the MIAC will be Carleton, Gustavus, St. Scholastica & St. Olaf #d3fb #gojohnnies

Yuck.  Sounds like we play 3 of the 5 in the other division each year, with a possible 4th in the championship game?  Losing UST from the schedule was bad enough, but now losing Bethel too (some years).... Hope we get some good non-conf opponents, because otherwise the regular seasons could be real yawners....

Bummer.  St. Scholastica was a terrific rival for us in many sports.  That leaves the UMAC with 6 conference games in 2021.  Maybe Superior will start up football soon.

So the other half of the conference becomes Augsburg, Bethel, Concordia, Hamline, and Macalester.
