Now that I've read the FAQs, I like this better than I initially thought.

Where are the FAQ's?

I would flip the schedule so the two full crossover weeks are in the front of the schedule. That way you don't have the championship weekend schedule locked into place three weeks out. Also with his schedule there is a possibility of five rematches played back to back weeks. There is still one possible but not all five.

I don't see many situations where the MIAC will get two NCAA bids...am I wrong?

This is kind of an unprecedented situation.  We've seen the division + conference championship game format in the NEFC and MWC, but those conferences don't (or didn't) really produce contenders for at-large bids.  Those games have been all or nothing.  The MIAC certainly does regularly produce at-large contenders, so it will be interesting to see how it plays out.  Some things that I think are certain:

- A1 and B1 playing each other twice every year double dips for SOS, which helps those teams wrt selection/seeding criteria
- the conference runner up getting swept in the season series probably dooms them, gaming of SOS notwithstanding
- the most likely candidate for at-large selection probably isn't the loser of the Week 11 championship game, but a one-loss divisional runner up (which sparks a debate that parallels debates we've all seen about the CFP and SEC divisional runners up)

We also don't know exactly how they're going to distribute conferences amongst the new regions when that expansion happens, and that's going to have an impact on the at-large process as well- in ways that are difficult to speculate on until we see how the new regions are grouped.

Now that's an ironic question people ask a lot.

You only need to get in five games this fall to be elegible for the postseason:

A) Woohoo!  Hut hut!  The season is on!

B) I thought the post season was a goner for sure.  I wonder if this will be a transfer boon to the schools that decide to play?

I really like championship week.  Five games matched up 1-5.  It gives every team a well-paired "bowl" game to finish the year.  Good reward for the players regardless of whether they are on elite teams or not.

I really wish the non-division games would be at the beginning of the season although with 5 team divisions there will always be a crossover game.  It might be nice to the Cereal Bowl at the end of the season though it is fun to play that game in nicer weather.  Having a rematch a week after a football game always feels strange.

Going out to eat. So nice. Happens here in two days. We've already booked a restaurant for #2's 18th birthday dinner on June 18th. The liberation feel fan-*******-tastic.

I'll get tickets the moment they announce the season is on and fans can attend. Qantas has shut down international flights and in fact only United is still flying between the US and Australia with a single daily flight.  It's lucky I became a dual citizen two years ago as the Australian government has said they won't be allowing non-citizens to enter until Dec 15th and the have put permanent residency renewals on hold so if a residency has expired or is about to then you can't leave the country as you may be able to get back in.

Wow.  Take Me Back Tuesday is the '63 championship game over Prairie View.

I'm going to sit down and enjoy this game on Saturday.  Play it on the big screen.

https://youtu.be/comparison to that '63 game getting uploaded to YouTube.

Camellia Bowl 1963 in Sacramento for Championship.
Best football game this old Johnnie ever attended!
The one 40 years later may be as good but I wasn't there.  :)

What a game.  A well-earned victory for the Johns and such a typical Johnnie game.  Prairie View looked like they were going to kill the Johnnies with two big play scores and a blocked punt to boot to start the game.  A swarming defense and a whole game's worth of Johnnie Magic kept them in the game and down only 14-13 at the half.  And then AirJohnnie made an appearance in the second half and the Jays started to move the ball and make their own big plays, meanwhile the defense swarmed and kept Prairie View from getting the big plays again.

Oh, and the Johnnie Nation travels.  Even in '63 the Johnnies had people in the stands.

I can't believe I just watched game 6 of the 1968 World Series. The Mets won it in the 10th inning on Buckner's error.
Let's please get "real" sports back on TV.
Have to go now. At 7:00, I'm going to watch Mount Union play Trinity (TX) in the 1998 NCAA semifinal game at Mount. Hope the Raiders can win it (they do - they go on to win the Stagg Bowl)!
I have even watched old SJU/UST games.
I CAN watch soccer, but not as much fun. I know very little Spanish.
Oh well. Just the ramblings of an old guy with not much to do.
