And for those who want to ding me and assume that, because I'm a 30-something who is in good health (I think), I'm somehow dismissive of what's going on or not taking this seriously. Think again. Both of my parents are in the high risk category (ages 74 and 68, respectively) and I also have a mother-in-law who is 63 and has undergone a bone marrow transplant.

What I'm an advocate for is individuals, families, businesses, etc. making decisions for themselves by first assessing the risk of the virus as it relates to them, determining their own risk tolerance, and living their lives accordingly. We exist in a society capable of seeing beyond a (media imposed) binary choice of either taking the virus seriously or wanting to kill someone's grandma.

On the one hand, my dad is a blue collar, take-sh**-from-nobody, farmer type who is choosing to live his life despite the risks by working, visiting friends, and traveling to play with his granddaughters like he would normally do. On the other hand, my mother-in-law is taking extreme precaution, is foregoing contact with the outside world, and is utilizing FaceTime and Zoom more than ever before. She misses being able to hug her granddaughters, but the risk is not worth it for her at this point. We are managing to respect both of these polar opposite approaches. Just because one approach or the other doesn't align perfectly with the way we think someone ought to live their life doesn't make it wrong. And, I think having a one-size-fits-all solution imposed on society at large is an affront to our basic liberties.

Agree with much of this. Big fan of personal responsibility. Drove from East Coast home and back a few weeks ago and we had many choices to make. And we made them. Disagree about "media induced."

Not taking sides either way, but we have rarely gotten consistent messages out of our leaders. Experts CDC/Fauci etc. are trotted out and offer a plan, then the same pols who stood with them undercut them a day later.

Indeed, it seems some states are opening quicker than the CDC/Fauci/official WH guidelines .... then they get ripped by loyalists of the national leaders who undercut WH/CDC guidelines. Absolutely crazy.

Has there been some goofy/lame coverage? Sure. But can't blame the media primarily for inducing the choice.

************* Letter to Mount Union season ticket holders **********

Seating for the 2020 season will be based on models that account for appropriate social distancing at Mount Union Stadium.

Any seating adjustments made for the 2020 season will not impact your season ticket locations for the 2021 season.

The time for tickets to be ordered will be adjusted to allow time for social distancing guidelines from local, state, and national officials to provide a safe environment for fans while also maximizing attendance.

There! That clears that up!  ???

MUC are selling tickets?!?  This is the first true "game on" step I've seen yet.  Spectacular work for the Purple Raiders.

The aforementioned letter did NOT include an order form. Sorry, Oz!. We don't even know what the hell the letter means.

The inconsistency in the social distancing rules will be a source of good, entertaining posts during the football season.  You can ride to the game in the same vehicle as your mates, but you can't sit next to them at the game unless you're in in the same household, etc.

But the real deadly question will be... tailgating?  You know it will be off.  At least for the first few games.  We've got three months until the first tailgate for attitudes to settle a whole lot for the outdoor bbq to make the agenda.  But when you consider that we didn't hit peak lockdown until mid-march and realise we're still not even at the halfway point between the start of this and the start of football then there's a chance that tailgating could be on after all.  Draw a line in attitudes from mid-March until now and extend that line out until the first week of September and who knows what the rules will be?

No but it's a clear intent to sell.  That's progress, can't be denied.

Actually, what if they do a tailgating setup segregated by age or rowdiness?  Let the parents and families have the lot down by the soccer field and a students only lot in front of St Mary's or some such.  Or perhaps on the tundra grass.

SagaTagSam, I'd give you 5 + karmas if possible. Thanks for a rational approach.

Speaking of rational, I'd love to see NFL players take a knee prior to the national anthem, while a video played on the big screen showing the names of men and women that died from black on black violence.

What happened to George Floyd is horrible, yet murder happens all weekend long in Chicago every weekend. March the streets of Chicago from sundown Friday to Sunup Monday and many, many lives will be saved.

Just sharing what I am seeing - if you can believe what they are reporting on this site:
https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america/minnesota
By August 3rd, or there-abouts, there will be projected only a dozen daily reported cases of COVID-19 in the whole state of MN.
Obviously, it's not definitive, but it gives us all hope.

Another 62 year-old signing off,

Does it give a projection of daily deaths at that time?

Here in South Dakota ("Social distancing since 1889") we've had 6 of the last 7 days with zero deaths. The Sioux Falls newspaper has basically stopped reporting on it.

I had a boss that was on a cruiser at Pearl Harbor on 12/07/41 and later a frogman that swam in to blow up underwater obstacles just before dawn on DDay. As I recall, he said only 13 of 100 of them survived.

Reports are there were 76 confirmed Covid19 deaths in New York City yesterday (Friday, June 5th), the  lowest ever for single day and here in Michigan, yesterday 284 confirmed new cases with 20 deaths.

We'll see what, if any, increases might be due to all the recent protests and riots with no social distancing on the next couple of weeks.
