Things are starting to come back!
After 9 weeks it is Catfish Friday.   :D

Catfish Friday❓ 🎣

Midwest57
One of my favorite restaurants has catfish on the menu (about the best there is) and I'm old enough to remember fish on Friday so that's when I go there. Some time ago Duffman said he didn't think it was possible to OD on catfish. I keep trying.  :)

BTW: your previous post about being from UMU and old just means you have wisdom which is not a prerequisite for web savvy.  :D

Catfish57

I also remember fish on Fridays. I like catfish and various other fishes. Petrale, indigenous to San Francisco, is good. Swordfish, shark, trout - the list goes on and on.
But the very best comes from Lake Erie. Walleye and perch are tremendous. But you probably don't get either one in Colorado. Actually, I can't even get them in Alliance. Have to get up to the lake (about 60 miles north).
Hope you and family are continuing to do well.
I hope I'll be able to say, Go Johnnies and Go Raiders this year. 🏈 🍺 😷

I'm old! I get mixed up and I forget things! Go Everybody! 🏈 ☠

Article in the Star Tribune yesterday by Patrick Reuss relating Augustana's current setback in their quest to move to DI and mentions the St. Thomas situation, however, there is no information that is new.

All 13 UW System universities will be back on campus this fall it has been announced.

UW Madison and UW Milwaukee have yet to decide.

So the WIAC is back in business but the B1G 10?  ???

Charley Walters in Sunday's Pioneer Press had this nugget:

The University of St. Thomas will learn Wednesday whether the NCAA will approve its jump from Division III to Division I. Meanwhile, look for the Tommies to join the Division I WCHA for women's hockey.

RIP, Frank Berres. As someone who sat in the section in Rat Hall, through the cobbing of Sonny Gulsvig and Rozier visits, it's quite a legacy.

Here's a bit of history, taken from the far stands during the 1976 Stagg. Got a slide scanner for some family image duties, but found a handful from Phenix City, Ala.

Crazy they let the teams wear their red and orange jerseys. Almost looks like the Cornhuskers and the Volunteers. Love the striping on the socks too!

Towson was starting its climb in divisions. When they introduced the coaches. There was Gagliardi and a couple others (maybe Fr. Otto Weber????) and then came Towson, which had about a dozen assistants, all in color-coordinated orange polyester.
Great game as well. Live on ABC.
Repete: you mentioned you had several slides from the 76 Stagg Bowl.... would you b willing to post more or send in PM?
What a great photo!
Assistant coaches were Dave Arnold (SJU-73) who also coached track and Greg Miller (SJU-75) who coached wrestling.
#2 QB Jeff Norman
#46 FB Brad Eustice
#44 RB Tim Schmitz
#30 WB Chris Boyd
#83 TE Mike Grant
#70 LT Bob Brigham (pulling)
#62 LG John Kessler (who split time with #67 Dan Dorgan!!!
#59 C  Dave Grovum
#62 RG Steve Glocke
#75 RT John Ringle
Missing from photo is (most likely) #13 WR Pete Rockers
SJU led 28-0... Towson comes back to tie @ 28.  Norman throws deep to a hobbled #22 Jim Roeder who makes the catch and limps to the 1 yard line.
Norman fumbles snap and Tim Schmitz somehow recovers the ball.
TO-SJU with :03 left.  Norman calmly changes his shoe to the square-toes kicking shoe and kicks the winning FG as time expires....
it never gets old.....

Just listened to the UST Athletic Director who was interviewed on WCCO 830. He made it sound like it is "game on" in the MIAC this fall.

He wasn't asked anything about going D-1 which seems odd.

Who did the interview? I want to see if I can find the recording of it.

I did not hear it but you have to consider Eric Nelson or Mike Max as a good place to start.

Dave Lee, during the normal sports update at 8:40am. Instead of Sid or Maxie it was Dave Lee talking to the UST AD.

What's the Vegas line on UST getting approved? Pre-Corona virus it had to be about 95% but now, I'd have to believe the odds have swung dramatically against UST being approved at this point. In the future I can see it, but now the landscape of college athletics has changed. The landscape for all business has changed.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

You bet. Will post here tonight and anyone who wants a better copy can DM their emails. Glad to share anything I find.

Sorry for the delay in response. We had visitors at the cabin over the weekend.

I'm thinking the Summit League invite will still carry the day. I doubt the conference will withdraw the invite at this point. However, the NCAA gives zero effs about what a single conference wants, and the Summit isn't a very powerful voice when considered nationally. There are substantially more schools likely to vote "no" on the proposal now as everyone is trying to protect their piece of a pie that shrank drastically this past spring.

I'd still peg the odds as more likely than not, but shrink it down to a 60% chance they get the necessary votes to make the transition directly to D1.

Augustana's D1 hopes got crushed recently as the Summit League declined to extend an invite to the conference.
