Great idea but i don't see 19-22 year olds doing this:

Yeah, this is about as likely as keeping them out of the bars and house parties in St Joe's.

I mean, we can't even get all the professional athletes to not go out and party. But sure, the college kids who don't have millions on the line will definitely do this

BIG10 cancels fall football season, plans to play in the spring.

I won't be holding my breath.

And Scottie Frost (6-12 in B!G play) is taking his 5th place West powerhouse  Huskers elsewhere looking for games.

B1G basically said "nah, not if you want to remain in the B1G in the future."
Comments from Lincoln came before that and I don't think anything has come out since then. Sounds like it may have been a play to the boosters to hear what they want (from the U-NL President at least, football coaches are another story) without any actual possibility of playing.

Texas Ole

The question with Nebraska is how happy are they in the Big Ten?  I think they miss some of the traditional games with OU and others though that rivalry faded some with the Big 8 adding the Texas schools.  Post Big 8 and even Big 12 days have not been good to the University of Nowledge.

In Frost's defense, that was the most poorly executed roll out of a major decision I've seen in a long time. A week prior they announce schedules and guys are in camp, with every intention of playing. What exactly changed in that week (except a realization they actually weren't prepared)??

It might be the right decision to cancel. But they made that call with zero answers on how they'll pull off the spring or what the details might be. And it wasn't just Nebraska. Harbaugh and Day were both very vocal about wanting to play. Urban Meyer is a tool, but he's right in saying that it's insane to ask players to play a Spring season and then turn around and play in the fall again. If this was really about safety, then there's no argument to be made for Spring football, it's just cancel and regroup for 2021.

Contrast with Fleck, who I've heard on good authority was quietly saying to the AD, "let it move to the Spring" since he was rather disappointed in the new schedule. Aka, not having a nice 5-6 game warm up of G5 and FCS teams to pad the schedule with.

Agreed. The B1G had months to come up with a contingency plan and get everything in place to make this work, and it came down to it and the messaging was basically "we hadn't considered what we would do until now." Ridiculous. Perhaps they were just hopeful and optimistic that COVID would be a done deal by now and not seeing 45k new cases daily (at least it's down from the 60k range) plus the questions about long-term heart complications with young healthy people, even if death risk is very low in that group.

I don't see how a full spring season happens. It ought to be looked at as, best case scenario, a glorified spring practice schedule with maybe up to 5 games and preserve everyone's eligibility.

The guy escaped the NBA bubble for a strip club and hot wings. While I cannot speak with authority as to the strip club, I can say that the hot wings in Atlanta completely justify his breaking of bubble protocol.

I am with you and hazzben on this. IMO, it is what should be done/apply to all the divisions, DIII, DII, and FCS as well.

OAC announces spring football schedule.
If you give a s--t, details available elsewhere.
At this point, I'm not sure I care!

I'm going to wait to get excited about it when I'm launching the stream to see the first spring game. Until then I'll be cautiously hopeful that we'll somehow get our s**ff together or something

Hilarious, MUC57, my friend! Yeah, like you, right now, I'm not quite sure that I can get excited about any "potential" spring schedule
Although, we are acheduled to do football physicals this Tuesday at the College, so they can start fall (uh, I mean, spring) practice. So I will see how I feel then. Please pray for me that I don't get the covid and that none of our players test positive. Hope you are otherwise doing well.

Pat and Keith dropped the "114 days" phrase a number of times concerning eligibility in this week's podcast. If I understand correctly, this means for the entire school year. So, do the coaches/leagues set the Spring schedules now so they can know how many Fall "workouts" or "practices" they can use without dipping into the 114 days? Or do they have to "fly blind" scheduling workouts and/or scrimmages which may end up hurting them if there is a Spring season? Seems like the ambiguity is a bit on the large size from where I sit. It has got to be tough trying to make decisions in the blind. One would think that now that the NCAA has determined no Fall play, they need to set/advise when schools should set their Spring seasons, so they can have "Fall ball" instead of "Spring ball". Anybody out there have anything they can share concerning this apparent dilemma?
