If anyone is wondering how it can taper off so quickly, I only have anecdote but it all leads to the improbable answer that college students aren't complete morons.

When all the students got back (my daughter lives off-campus as does 99% of the senior students) they were happy to see each other, lots of gatherings and partied hard.  First week back, there were just a handful of infections.  Parties continued.  Week two, about 350 students tested positive.  And parties really tapered back.  Week three, almost 700 tested positive (exponential growth!!!11!1!) and frat row became a ghost town.  Everyone stayed home and social distanced.  Week four, only 320 positives.

Students want to stay at school.  So they choose to social distance themselves.  At least this is how it appears.  Parties are starting again but they are smallish and limited to people who know each other.  And if you haven't had the 'rona then it's hard to find a party which will let you in.  At least off-campus.

Heh. There are some bitter, twisted souls on PP boards.  Two people pinged me for mentioning my daughter had the 'rona. Some folks are in desperate need of stress outlets because a ceaseless tilting at the windmill does nothing but build up that knot of anxiety.  Let it go. It will be alright. Get on and enjoy life.

Is this in Minnesota somewhere? You'll have to excuse me, I live in Ohio and went to Mount Union.
HS football is being played around here. Just curious. Thanks! Stay safe. 🏈 😷 ⁉️

Hey, that's spectacular.  Here's the press release.

https://www.mshsl.org/about/news/league-news/board-directors-approve-returning-volleyball-football-fall-season

Quote
The plan, which fits within COVID-19 guidance of the Minnesota Department of Health, will have an approved football season beginning on Sept. 28 with the first of six regular season games scheduled for the week of Oct. 5. Since Sept. 14, member schools have had the option of participating in fall training sessions. In the framework that was adopted by the Board of Directors, a planned two-week football postseason will begin the week of Nov. 16.

And the events around the decision.

Quote
In a vote on Aug. 4, the board approved postponing football and volleyball until a spring season. But on Wednesday, Sept. 16, a day after a lengthy board workshop, Novak called for a special meeting of the Board of Directors to give reconsideration of returning the two activities to their traditional fall seasons. During the workshop, MDH shared updated information on COVID-19 analytics, spread and prevention.

It looks like reason is prevailing.  Thank goodness.  I was pretty worried.  Now let's just hope Australia comes around.  Victoria has just passed Wuhan for the longest and strictest lockdown over covid.  108 days.

Oz, if Victoria can justify 108 days given the current death rate, I don't see how they open the borders to N America w the upcoming flu season. You may not see the light of day until the Easter Bunny comes.

Sorry. No Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, or Easter Bunny until the threat passes. The earliest we will see Peter Cottontail is Easter 2022.
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright.

Had occasion to drive thru Johnnieville today, it would have been a glorious Homecoming weekend at the Natural Bowl.  Colors are almost spectacular, especially on the way thru the woods on I-94.  Clemens itself was pretty nice, campus very nice.  Oh well . . . .

Received my Johnnie magazine today. Nice article about Bartch and good obit on my classmate Rat Berres. Another classmate Chuck Froehle and Jim Lehman a year ahead of me in the Hall of Honor.

Little did you know that you were there to see how the magic was made. Awesome 57!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Man, the Jags didn't play well.  Bartch knows what playing the Roney era feels like now, I guess.
