I don't think schools have any expectation that 3-5 spring games will "replace" a full fall schedule, but they do understand the value of providing the opportunity for their student-athletes.

Pleasantly surprised to see St. Olaf on that list that Old Auggie just posted. I would have thought they would stay out.

Kudos to Augsburg for being the only MIAC school to have an up to date Spring Schedule posted on their team's website. One school still has the 2019 season listed, (yeah, the one moving on to D1).

Pioneer League schedule for Fall 2021 hasn't been announced yet. I assume they are still working to schedule some OOC games for the Fall also.

Sounds like no spring games for SJU.
I think that's a mistake considering how many guys they're replacing along with their first four games next season (Aurora, Whitworth, Bethel and Concordia m).

Im not fussed about a lack of spring games. Roll in fall. Let's just get back into it.

Does anyone know if normal classrooms have returned for this semester or are they still doing the one class at a time routine?

I can confirm the no spring football for SJU. Got the info indirectly from a football mom. Her son is a senior. Mixed feelings, probably the right thing to do. I thought they might have planned a couple of scrimmages.

Had one shot of Pfizer. Second shot on the 28th. Looking forward to being fully vaccinated.

I am currently in northern Virginia with my Tommie daughter. She is pregnant with identical twins. I am going with her to Johns Hopkins tomorrow to have some things checked out.

No spring football games.  They're practicing and may scrimmage.

We've had both rounds of Pfizer, which provides a bit of relief as we plan a road trip back to Minnesota in a couple of weeks. We did four roundtrips last year and some of the rest areas/hotels en route seemed a bit sketchier that usual, despite the supposed focus on sanitation.

Good luck, ROR, at JHU.  Pretty amazing place in Charm City.

Saw a young guy with an Ithaca FB polo last week when I was picking up Greek takeout. Turns out he didn't just overlap with Trevor Warner there but Trevor was his position coach. Nice kid. We also talked briefly about a washed up Ithaca o-line guy. ;D

Can definitely understand the mixed feelings on spring ball, but here's hoping for a full slate next fall. And if things go right, I'll be back there fulltime. And if I never again have to stop at the Knute Rockne Rest Area, I'll be fine with that.

My folks have had both of theirs and have immediately taken off to Arizona for a snowcation.  Seeing photos of the old man walking around in shorts is good.

They actually got theirs off a facebook post by the Grand Rapids hospital.  My folks had been scheduled to get some at the clinic but wouldn't make the second in time for the Arizona holiday (and didn't want to catch the Covid while away from home) and were just about to cancel the trip when my mom saw a post on the hospital facebook page saying they had some spare doses and it was first come, first serve.  So they hopped in the truck and took off to town to get jabbed.  Two weeks later all was done and a week after that they were on their way to Arizona.

That's what I meant. 😀. Happy to hear there will be scrimmages. Hopefully some fans will be allowed.

Grass fields in MN in the November and December timeframe are brutal, especially when you don't have a dedicated crew to take care of it.  Glad BU is finally joining the modern era.

The breaking point at SJU was 2001 vs. UW-SP.  We obliterated the field and then got 18" of snow in the next few days.  We had to play PLU in the Fargodome, which at the time had turf that was about the texture of a wire brush and had the most stagnant air you can imagine.  Thanks to some hard work from Redtooth and others, we opened the 2002 season on brand new SprinTurf.

I left plenty of skin on the Fargodome turf in the late 98 and 99 as a HS player, so I probably broke it in for you, honestly. You're welcome.

So you can attest to the brutality of that stuff.  The turf at the Metrodome and Auggie Tech seemed soft, in comparison!

CSB/SJU made a commitment to do the one class at a time block schedule for both Fall and Spring semesters this year. They also eliminated Spring Break as well during Spring Semester. It was supposed to make contact tracing easier if there was a Covid outbreak and make it easier if students had to leave campus again. CSB/SJU have already stated that the plan will be back to the normal class schedule in the Fall of 2021.

I was shocked to see St. Olaf playing spring football.  I would have put large amounts of money down against St. Olaf playing spring football.  I think tennis starting up made some sense since that is a more socially distant sport.  Softball and baseball were a nice surprise.

My guess is that if you certain fall sports goals especially with football it probably doesn't make sense to play in the spring.  A robust spring practice with scrimmages probably makes more sense.  I was talking to a friend who umpires college baseball, and he said all of the players look about a month behind schedule in terms of being crisp.  I am wondering if there are concerns by some teams as to whether they can get the athletes in to the shape needed to compete.

As for the vaccine talk I get my second shot this week!  I'm still taking several of the same precautions, but I have noticed my anxiety towards the virus decrease.  I wasn't just keeping safe at times.  I was focused on keeping crazy.  I would spray Lysol on the mail and wear a mask at times when it wasn't close to being required.  I am not telling anyone to get vaccinated or not.  That is a personal decision.  I have heard several arguments on both sides that are quite laughable.  I am a skeptic towards science and medicine, but I also pay attention to data.  It took a lot of persuasion for me to choose to be vaccinated.  What convinced me was friends in medicine I trust reassuring me it was safe and a sermon about the vaccine providing hope.  One of the big reasons to get vaccinated was not for my health, but for those around me who could not get vaccinated due to prior health issues.

I would get vaccinated even with nothing more than a saline solution at this point.  With a horse needle.  Just give it to me and go away already.
