Goodbye Earth-Homes!

Good.  Those places are gross, and I can't believe they're still inhabited.  Looks like a cool project.  I'm excited to check out the pedestrian bridge.

Buried in the SJU release is also the news that the Gagliardi home will be demolished.  Kind of sad.

What thoughts are out there regarding the 2021 season and Covid guidelines / restrictions? Will be limited across all levels of the NCAA?

My guess is minimal restrictions.  I think almost everyone who wants the vaccine will have had it.  I also think as more research is released that we will better be equipped for treatment both pre and post-contraction.  There is a part of me that wants to think we will be at a stage by fall where even if you contract the virus you will not have to quarantine.  Texas is supposed to reach herd immunity by the middle of June.  I've received multiple emails letting me know of surplus vaccines in my area by providers.  It is almost at the point where you can pick your vaccine or location and just walk in the clinic without an appointment much like the flu vaccine.

I think in many regards the goal is every American should get vaccinated.  I stand by my belief that vaccination to a large degree for Covid should be voluntary.  That doesn't mean I don't extremely upset by many who oppose vaccinations especially ones that have been around for decades.  In my opinion it is time for Texas to send its surplus to other states, and maybe time for the US to start sending doses to our allies to help fight Covid in those locations.

The fact that outdoor transmissions haven't really been a thing make me hopeful that by fall we'll be able to be filling the stands?

I feel like my expectations during covid have been mis-aligned with reality repeatedly, so who knows..

Nov. 13 Gophers are at Iowa. It's also the inaugural MIAC Championship Week. Really hoping I have a difficult decision to make that weekend!!!

I feel like by the start of fall sports, I don't think there will be much reason we can't have indoor and outdoor events.  At that point, everyone who wanted a vaccine should have had the chance to get one (medical exceptions excluded of course), and so there is little reason to inconvenience everyone to protect those who don't want one. Society as a whole will have had a chance to protect itself, something that wasn't true last fall. We go from all of us having to pitch in and suffer inconveniences because there was no alternative, to all of us having to pitch in and suffer inconveniences to protect those that don't want the alternative. Having that choice, the ability to protect yourself, changes the rules quite a lot for me in the individual vs society debate. I hope it does for the powers that be as well.

OzJohnnie

Bartch has the chance to play with another long-haired QB phenomenon.  It looks like Ben will need to work pretty hard this pre-season to earn his spot in the side but he may have a chance at playing on a hugely up and coming team.  Good luck to him.

Sounds like Lance Leipold is moving to a power 5 school: Kansas.

Good luck with all that.

Will St John's spring game be streamed tomorrow? It looks like there will be audio from what I can find on gojohnnies.com, but does anyone know if there will be video?

From the email I received:

QuoteHowever, we want to provide you with an opportunity to stream the scrimmage live. This stream will require a passcode as we are only providing this opportunity to our season ticket holders, football parents and incoming freshman. Please do not share this code with others.

Shucks! Hard to have season tickets when you live over 5 hours away!

I just tried to log in to watch, and they want $10.  Screw that.  I'm not paying to watch an intra-squad scrimmage.

Once the scrimmage actually started, I was able to watch for free.  Nothing too exciting.

I "followed along" for most of the first half and part of 3rdQ, interrupted by in-laws and watching baseball.  And complicated by no play-by-play on the stream. I agree with no excitement, but I thought Syverson looked pretty decent at QB (Backes didn't look bad), so it will be interesting to see how that plays out. WR freshman transfer Jimmy Buck will help.

All of this pandemic and eligibility business has me confused, so I may have lost track of some things like who's already left and who's injured and who's coming back -- BUT I wondered where were some of the people - no Ravi Alston.  Didn't see QB Abe Havelka. No Henry Trost. No T.J. Hodge. No Blake Patrick. Don't remember Dom Nussmeier's name being called.

DuffMan

I saw Trost and Alston very early on in the game.

Thanks, I see pictures of them now on social media. Resting easier now!
