Am I missing something here? What is wrong with the end zone where the old scoreboard was located.

That's a good question that I haven't heard an answer to.

I've heard an answer. I'm not sure if it is the real reason for the shift.

What I heard was that they didn't want it blocking the view of the Abbey bell banner and Alcuin Library. Take that for what it's worth. I, personally, am skeptical--the reason being that the trees on the south hill, which were small when I arrived on campus in the fall of 2003, are now pretty sizable (20-30 feet tall) and they already block the view of the Abbey and library.

Sam, you beat me to it.  The monks in particular were not going to allow a big bright huge scoreboard to impact the view of the Abbey Church. I'm fine with it.  Easier to view from the home stands.

That all being said, I'm a curmudgeon and would have preferred sticking with the old scoreboard.  More in line with my preferred aesthetic for the Natural Bowl.

Once the field turf starts going down it goes pretty quickly. I think they'll have a field ready, with visitors stands and track being completed as the season progresses.

Block whose view?  Pretty hard to see the bell banner from most places in the stadium to begin with.  I suppose if you were hovering 15 feet in the air, 5 feet away from the scoreboard it might block your view of everything on the other side of the board.

Let's see what it would look like in the South End Zone.

I guess the monks were right.

Agreed...not a very legitimate reason.

I agree twice over.  You are a curmudgeon and I, too, prefer the aesthetic of the old board.

VOJ gets a feature article.

Notable Announcers Resonate Throughout SJU's Athletic History

Back when I lived in the St. Cloud area in the 80's I would work out at a health club many times at the same time as Dick Bremer. At that time of day there were not many members using the facilities and I remember him telling me he was doing the Johnnie broadcasts and had time in the middle of the day to kill (I was on long lunch breaks  ;) ) I was in the media at that time as well so we had mutual interests.

Super nice guy then as he appears to be on TV now. Nice article on all the Johnnie broadcasters featured.

Lets go!! Cant wait till this season gets kicked off.  Was wondering a few things. Who are some of the top WR's corps returning and best DL's.  Soley asking cause I have 2 boys playing 1 of which is a Cb and the other is a C/G. Just curios to see what they will be getting their hands full with.

Don't show this to the CB...he won't be able to sleep at night. And if he does doze off it will give him nightmares!!!

How huge is week one in Collegeville?
#6 hosting #23

When I looked at what Aurora had back, I had them ranked 16 on my ballot. They are basically bringing back everyone.

St John's has the toughest first four weeks of the schedule of any team in D3 (subtracting the Martin Luther game). Someone convince me I'm wrong.
